43 km long orange Line 4 with 29 stations is slated to commence operation this month. It will run diagonally across Kunming, Northwest to Southeast vice versa, intersecting preexisting lines as interchange stations.
A visual KRT map may be helpful. Here are the stations:
Jinchuan Road Station
Haitun Road Station
Jindingshan North Road Station
North Railway Station
Bailong Road Station
Yuyuan Road Station
Jingui Street Station
Keke Village Station
Xiangfeng Street Station
Kunming South Railway Station
I'm surprised they're not waiting until National Day (Oct 1st) for the big opening...?
Maybe want to avoid curious locals hitting the opening at same time with holiday travelers in masses.
Great, thanks for the info Wendy! Btw it's KeLe Village (yes, like Coke!) not KeKe. There is nothing really at KeLeCun yet.. just a station in the middle of farmland haha, no doubt it will get developed in the next 5 years or so. More subway lines are badly needed for Kunming to develop, we can't all drive everywhere all the time.
You're so right.
This city does need more subway lines.
Line 5 is still under construction and I've heard that more have been approved.
I have to think back on what's happened in the last 10 years.
While Kunming has built and opened 5 lines, back in Toronto where I came from they've been talking about more lines for 10 years with nothing being done.
Kunming has made a lot of progress in a relatively short time.
There is a Chinese article here society.yunnan.cn/system/2019/01/15/030179193.shtml that includes a map showing how the route of line 4 relates to the surface map.
Here is the same for line 5 news.sina.com.cn/o/2018-03-31/doc-ifysufwf8053906.shtml
This is great for those of us with older real estate near the subway lines. Should drive our home prices up another 20% or more, over the next few years.
Glad to have a subway stop near (but not TOO near) my home.
thanks for sharing those Tiger, the line 5 map is interesting as it shows the intersections with other lines, present and future. It's a shame that the subway wasn't around when I lived in that area, would have made certain journeys much quicker and easier. Oh well!
I think the extension of line 6 from the east bus station to Beijing Lu may soon be completed as well.
Work along Tuodong Lu looks near completion.
@AlPage, the line 6 extension, and line 4, will make getting to the airport easier for a lot of people in the south of Kunming.
