Forums > Living in Kunming > GoKM Saying and Doing

Any form of moderation is never going to please everyone. We generally wait for an indeterminate amount of time to see if a forum will get back on track, and, if it doesn't, we lock or delete it.

As for banning users, those we deem to be trolling just for the fun of it are removed.

The goal of the forums is to provide a place for discussing issues of sustained relevance to those living in or interested in Yunnan. When any of them result in flame wars or personal attacks, we reserve the right to moderate at our discretion. But remember, we are just as human as everyone else and make decisions that may, from time to time, be unpopular.

We want GoKunming to remain a place where people discuss what is important to them, but preferably in a civil manner. The forums are generally more cool-headed, informative and entertaining than most, and we hope that distinction can be maintained.

Congratulations to Ozzie's, the Kunming Rotary and everyone who turned out for a great evening! The fundraiser pulled in more than 22,000 yuan — enough to buy diapers for the next 12 months. Great work Kunming!

These places are home to "thousands of immigrants from the countryside". Many of these families have extreme difficulty finding ways to register their kids to attend schools, much less pay for tuition. So no, many of them don't go to class.

As for the sandwiches, that was an introductory activity, what teachers call a 'warmer', to gain trust, establish comfort and make sure the kids come back the next time.

Kunming, can't thank you enough! The fundraiser brought in more than 10,000 yuan. Thanks to the bands, Matu and Juliette, Jiajia, Kris, Ian and David, as well as everyone who came out and made this a fantastic afternoon and evening. Well done everyone!

Passable no-frills Dongbei food including lots of dumplings, tofu, disanxian and other standards. Fair prices too.

A pleasant surprise hiding inconspicuously inside the Second Ring Road. Go for the temple, stay for the lovely forested park and its ample solitude.

Had the buffet here recently. A bit expensive but discounts are available for groups. Seafood, including crab, lobster and sushi were all fantastic. European and Chinese dishes were great as well. Beer was included with dinner. Overall, excellent service and food.

Excellent dumplings for omnivores, vegetarians and carnivores. This is a hole in the wall joint with no frills, but the owners are friendly and the dumplings are just right. Five stars if they get higher quality vinegar.
