i wonder how you spend your Chinese spring festival when you are stay in Kunming?

With my head under a pillow. Ask me again next year.

If i have any say in the matter it will not be in China next year.

At home. Definatley not a time to travel, or to go downtown shopping.
Spring Festival Gala is a good excuse to spend 8 hours on the computer, gaming/surfing/etc.
Doing some of my own home cooking, to avoid the 4 day leftovers.
If you live with a Chinese family, going on a diet; I mean not many of us can take a week of Ma's cooking, especially if it is local delicacies, especially if they are now 4 days old. And before people pipe up about coming to China and wanting western food, think about why there are so many Chinese supermarkets and nosheries in EU and US.

at home too, dont want to go out since everyone is also getting out of the city. enjoy the no traffic around the city. just imagine everyday your in this traffic, stress and everything to put up in this city

and here you have a week where its almost like a ghost town and so free. getting around around the city in a few mins or so, china is changing before you dont see malls, shopping centers open now they do.

Chinese friends go home or are with family. Usually I stock up on food and drinks, make sure I have DVDs and things to read.

This year I was invited to dinner with a Chinese family I've known for 7-8 years. Even Granddad, who is 89, speaks English, many have been to the US. The aunts are great cooks and the food is wonderful and different.

Usually 春节 is alone listening to the fireworks.

This is the time I get out of China and travel in SE Asia. I get away from the cold weather and the annoying fireworks. Great time for travel in Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia.

Either travel outside of China or stay at home exclusively. This is not a time to go anywhere in China.
