Well, Bernie talks "socialism", but what's needed is to see just what he means - socialized medicine, etc., is something, but not everything. Of Democratic Party members, I figure I could support him conditionally, but then he jumped in and supported Hillary for president, so now I'm not so sure - anyway, socialized medicine would be something.
Example of a 'socialist' measure in the US: creation of the Tennessee Valley Administration.
They are also highly democratic within their political systems, and largely because of the public social welfare measures mentioned, they are relatively democratic socially as well.
Before doing the above you'd better decided what you mean by 'socialist'. For me, the social democracy of Europe is, basically, capitalism with fairly advanced social welfare - socialism to me means the public ownership of the major means of production. There are varieties of the same, and varieties as to how such an economic arrangement has been or might be governed. And then there's the question of just how much of the means of production is publicly owned.
Naturally, the US Consulate cannot support the Demo Community, as it is a party organization (apparently) rather than a governmental one. Though that doesn't mean they couldn't cooperate with it concerning voter registration etc. But we might get clearer answers from the initiator of the thread.
I find the burgers at Salvador's to be a bit dry, or slightly overcooked, or something - not bad, but....or maybe not enough fat in the meat.

Not quite what you'd call a jumping place, but not bad at all for rather standard US-type meals, not overly expensive, and with a really good salad bar that's cheap, or free with most dinner dishes after 5:30PM. You can get a bottle of beer or even wine if you really want to, but I've never seen anybody do it - maybe that's just to take out. Chinese Christian run, and they hire people with physical disadvantages, who are pleasant and helpful. Frequented by foreign (mostly North American) Christians and Chinese Christians - was started by a Canadian couple associated with Bless China (previously, Project Grace), who are no longer here, but no religious pressure or any of that. Steaks are nothing special, and I avoid the Korean dishes, which I've had a few times but which did not impress me.
As a shop and bakery, it's very good bread at reasonable prices, of various kinds (Y18 for a good multigrain loaf that certainly weighs well over a pound. Other stuff too, like granola and oatmeal that is local, as well as imported things, including American cornflakes and so forth, which some people seem to require.
Large portions, seriously so with the pizza, which is Brooklyn/American style, I guess. Convivial, conversational, good place to drink with good folks on both sides of the bar, especially after about 9PM.
Too bourgeois.
Really good pizza and steaks. The wine machine fuddles me when I'm a bit fuddled, & seems unnecessary. Good folks on both sides of the bar.
Ain't no flies on Salvador's.

Posted byProbably needed, but I hope these guys will pay close attention to exactly what is or is not going on at present and not just (justifiably, perhaps) point fingers to past mistakes, corruption or whatever. Officials should indeed be made to take responsibility for their actions or inactions, but the important question is always: "Okay, so what do we do next?"
