Yes, perfectly clear starry night. Dimmed city lights few hours before dawn. Couple of big ones zooming past the vicinity of ORION, facing West 30 degrees above Daguan Park.

So peaceful when Spring City sleeps.

Count me in. Love the cosmos. I'll be staring out my window hoping to catch some.

Supposedly the best viewing location in Yunnan would be Lijiang.

@dolphin

Whichever decision you make, be mindful of the adverse feelings that buoyantly surface from the past when associating with negative memories...

like a third-person spectator, don't judge or respond to the stream of thoughts & emotions... just observe from a selfless POV... this mindfulness will steer clear distractions of mental noises, usually negative in nature, and optimize decision-makings obscured by the deep subconscious.

Be aware that your present being is an unbroken life continuum that stretches for billions let alone millions of years. The realization that you are the embodiment of your parents, your parents are of your ancestors, and that lineage of distant ancestors are in you and all around us in a planetary tree of life... the internal conflicts harbored by the mind will lessen its grip. Whichever path you take, you'll be able to walk it with a fuller sense of gratitude and completeness.

I'd want that for my kinds and my future descendants. To be free of mental burdens, however right or wrong they may be socially perceived.

I fell short of recommending Hilton because of the operative word "reasonably"... otherwise highly recommended for that area... big balcony view directly facing Fuxian Lake with a private beach of fine grain sands flanked by a long row of lavenders in a Tuscanesque backdrop. Lengthy outdoor pools though may be too cold for winter. Indoor lap pool/jacuzzis are heated. Breakfast and dinner were up to the culinary standards of a Hilton. Only drawback were the incessant barrage of sales agents taking prospective buyers on a courtyard tour... annoyingly walking past your beach chairs on the wooden plank walkway and disturbing your moments of peace.

Hiltons aren't pricey if you know where to look for discounts. Well worth it if it's for a special occasion. Their white cabana tent lobster dinner on a candle-lit beach overlooking the sunset across the lake may be worth a romantic anniversary consideration. At least 8 waiters/kitchen staffs serving just that one couple by the lakeside. Now that's royal treatment for only for 1,000 rmb.

High speed rail from Dali to Ruili is in operation. A two-hour journey.

@Peter is right. Cross-border illicit drug smuggling by Chinese-speaking Burmese ladies from Myanmar may still needs to be addressed w/ more accountability by local border patrols on both sides. It's Yunnan's wild west.

Limited transmission capacity is another issue facing these hydro renewable power sources.

Local transmission companies would rather take on cheaper, coal-fired power providers in lieu. Leaving low grid connectivity for these hydropower resources. "Curtailment" is the industry jargon for their poor access to the power market. Clean hydropower wastage ensues.

Beijing announced today to setup renewable power quotas. Mandating local governments to give renewable electricity sources priority grid access. The goal is to reduce wastage rates by 12% in 2019. 5% in two years.

Would it be entirely far-fetched to assume this lawsuit was somehow funded by competing coal industries as a mean of regaining leverage in the regional power market? Using own EPA-kryptonite to fight against their nemesis? Not so much peafowl as foul play. When it comes to business, murky policies sometimes flow with the money stream.
