Perhaps a pack of hungry tigers would prefer to devour it raw as the main feast, lol. Moreover, raw pork may not sit well with Chinese families given recent scare of African swine fever outbreak.

Shouldn't elevation & pressure variables be plugged into that equation? Our 1,900m above sea level ought to increase temp or lengthen the cooking time a bit, no?

Nope, no thermometer in stock at Carrefour nor Muji.

The cheaper "Carrefour Home" utensil brand is giving Fackelmann run for their money.

Good luck with that x'mas ham! Remember, imperfect family TLC time is more valuable than perfect tenderness of ham.

Carrefour has a bunch of Fackelmann kitchen utensils.

Last minute reminder... this morning 10am at Carrefour and Muji is the last day of 60 minus 30rmb via Unionpay using SamsungPay, ApplePay, HuaweiPay, MiPay, and/or MeizuPay.

I'll be going to battle with antsy shoppers in two hours. I'll keep an eye out for meat thermometers.

Incredible share @Peter! Almost 1,000 posts. Hope you reach it.

You seem to be right that most article features on 19th and early 20th century Auguste Francois are photographs, not video. The b&w motion really brings a bygone era back to life.

Because Vimeo is blocked in China, I took the liberty of downloading and then uploading the video to WeTransfer for all w/o VPN to enjoy (automatic deletion in 7 days):

@tiger

But the Chinese love the gambling aspect of drawing large raffle prizes at swanky 5-star hotel X'mas feasts, exorbitant entry fees notwithstanding. Thrill of winning holiday getaway villa packages, gift idea on its own merit.

To piggyback off @dolphin's DIY gift idea for last-minute shoppers...

the annex across the street from NanYa (南亚) Shopping Mall's Starbucks features a bunch of DIY handicraft shops: from woodcrafting, leather satchel-making (w/ guidance from leathersmiths), jewelry assembling, to putty molding and oil/acrylic painting.

Encapsulating the Yuletide spirit sometimes entails the aggregate moments of joy. More than handing someone a gift card.

So with her company or without (for surprise), put on your craftsman's apron and get busy:

High speed rail from Dali to Ruili is in operation. A two-hour journey.

@Peter is right. Cross-border illicit drug smuggling by Chinese-speaking Burmese ladies from Myanmar may still needs to be addressed w/ more accountability by local border patrols on both sides. It's Yunnan's wild west.

Limited transmission capacity is another issue facing these hydro renewable power sources.

Local transmission companies would rather take on cheaper, coal-fired power providers in lieu. Leaving low grid connectivity for these hydropower resources. "Curtailment" is the industry jargon for their poor access to the power market. Clean hydropower wastage ensues.

Beijing announced today to setup renewable power quotas. Mandating local governments to give renewable electricity sources priority grid access. The goal is to reduce wastage rates by 12% in 2019. 5% in two years.

Would it be entirely far-fetched to assume this lawsuit was somehow funded by competing coal industries as a mean of regaining leverage in the regional power market? Using own EPA-kryptonite to fight against their nemesis? Not so much peafowl as foul play. When it comes to business, murky policies sometimes flow with the money stream.
