Grace is staffed by American doctors and, in my experience, provides the same level of expertise and standard of care that you would expect to find in a good clinic in the U.S. I highly recommend them.

Excellent Thai food served in a beautiful art deco setting. The bar is also top notch, with great cocktails, whiskys and cigars.

When the weather is good, try to get a table on the rooftop garden, which offers views of the Bird and Flower market.

May be a little pricier than some of the other Thai restaurants in town.

TEN WEST LANGUAGE SCHOOL KUNMING

I have been a student at Ten West since coming to China in 2016. (totalling three years) From the very beginning working with Ten West has been incredibly smooth.

Albert (the owner) is extremely accommodating and has a lot of experience dealing with foreigners, both in terms of what it takes to get all the paperwork sorted out to get here, as well as dealing with foreigners' expectations and ways of learning.

Thankfully, my family have not needed to go to hospital in China, but on many occasions that I know of, Albert has been there when foreigners have needed emergency care and has gone the extra mile.

The teachers are all friendly, patient and willing to work with your personal ways of learning and individual goals.

For the first year, I gained a lot from doing the GPA method, and since then I studied HSK 4 materials and guided the lessons according to my own interests. Mainly using stories, graded readers and discussing current events etc...

An additional asset of Ten West is the cultural events they put on through the year, which mainly covers the major holidays like Autumn Festival and Spring Festival. A few months ago, Albert organised a camping trip which was great fun and again Albert went the extra mile in looking after his student's safety and needs.

Ten West is located near a subway station in the north of the city. In my opinion, the north of Kunming is much nicer than the West and is obviously cheaper to live in than the centre but still has everything you need.

Basically, I can assure you Ten West is not some kind of "rip off school", just looking for your money and giving you a shoddy experience.

Consequently, I can heartily recommend Ten West as a place to learn the amazing language that is Mandarin.

Smaller than I thought. Really small! Pizza and burgers were good, music selection was excellent, as was the beer selection. Four stars instead of five because we were literally the only people there.

This is a special place! A bit hard to find since it's tucked away in an upper floor of a shopping mall, but well worth it for the amazing food. The focus is on quality, health and well-being and the extensive organic menu has something for everyone, including juices, good coffee, a lot of vegetarian and gluten free options. Nicole (one of the owners) is a wonderful host, she speaks English and is happy to talk about the philosophy behind the menu.

Finally got around to using Salvador's delivery service - tried it out on the chicken burrito and their bag of nacho chips. Delivery was flawless despite being a bit out of area (≥4km) and the food was still warm.

First experience - excellent (5 stars).

Excellent as always - even with long distance delivery. Now if only the online menu was expanded a little (like the chicken strips...hint hint hint...nudge nudge...wink wink).

Igors patisserie is my home away from home. It's one of the few places in kunming where you can get authentic French sourdough along with croissants and a fine selection of patisserie's. There is also a good variety of coffee's available from around the world to enjoy. I like to have a raspberry tart with a croissant, all washed down with an affogatto. I was lucky enough to meet Igor in person, he was very nice and helpful, you can see he is very passionate about his produce. I highly recommend a visit.

Great food. Great atmosphere. Place just gets better.

My wife and I have been studying here in Dali for approximately eighteen months and are very happy with the school. Both management and teaching staff are friendly, helpful, and professional. They hold occasional activities such as barbecues etc which is good for interacting with native Chinese speakers, and with other students at different levels. We take one on two classes, so can choose what we want to study, and the pace we would like to go which has turned out well.
On the whole, a good school with good staff in a beautiful part of China.
