Forums > Living in Kunming > Yunnan Thinking and Ways @Alien. Cycling through Kunming traffic and suffering/witnessing all the irresponsible, selfish and dangerous, or inexperienced and reckless ebike and car drivers can build up some serious pressure/steam. Add to that buses that blow coal black 500api smoke in your face.
Forums > Living in Kunming > Westerner Thinking and Ways We have a popular saying on GoK....Matt is that you?
Forums > Food & Drink > Retails for real imported alcohol? @marcuschen. Most of the shoppers at Metro are local Chinese. So many locals can get and already have membership cards. But yankee00 has a point. The foreigners and Chinese buy different kinds of things because of cultural preferences.
Forums > Living in Kunming > Electrical Soldering If you can find the neighborhood broken TV, hot plate repair shop, the guy inside usually has a messy desk with circuit boards and solder. I paid a single lonely kuai for him to solder a wire back on. However, it's not a finesse job, big glob, but my bike light works again.

"But again, by saying GK avoids anything remotely controversial implies subterfuge, which is probably the most reproachable offense in journalism. Can you substantiate this?"
On your second point, that's quite easy. Simply take a look at which forums end up with the "thread locked." No one expects GoK to be hard hitting journalism, but we also don't want self censorship or reading stuff that follows the party line.
I think Scally made an honest mistake. As usual, the cover up ends up worse than the crime. He has apologized publicly, profusely and personally to ludwig. I'll still look forward to Scally's articles.
