Anxiety / Panic Disorder?

@The Dudesons
How many years did it take you to be at a place that you can deal with your illness. How many mistakes were made by you or to you? I bet it was a long journey. The OP situation show not have been posted on here because we really don't have all the facts. Who knows what is really going on. We are only giving advise based on our experiences. That's all we can do. Heck, even the "professional" don't know what they are doing. Let's face it. There are so many 'crooks' in the healthcare business that it will probably take a while before the OP finds a good professional provider. I certainly would not want to be in his shoes.

@laotou

It would be a good idea to pay attention to The Dudeson's as he clearly has a lot of experience with psychiatric therapy.

you are absolutely right. i mean i am only applying logic here. but why would one not try to get a diagnosis. you can still do all the other diet, home treatment stuff. but you at least have a rough idea what you are dealing with even if the therapist can only narrow it down on a few disorders.

sure there are bad therapist but let's be honest, most of them are good or at least ok. good thing with therapists is they have to follow you lead.if you refuse medz, they have to deal with it. if you refuse to take therapy, then thats the way to go.

dunno you would rather ask a mechanic to give advise on fixing a car, rather than a random bloke, i'd assume.

@geezer
...you bet! although, less as a patient.

Thanks for the comment - but Dudeson's is merely adding his comments to hopefully help the oped make an informed decision on an extremely complicated issue.

He comments on the benefits of mental healthcare, I comment on the risks when things go bad. Life is great when things work as planned - but my experience shows things never go as planned.

"why would one not try to get a diagnosis". sometimes the person you are trying to help is unwilling to see a head doctor coz they belive it aknowleges they are not right in the head. in face culture this is an issue. or fear that the diagnosis will confiem their fears, esp in a face culture.

@The Dudeson's,

-the OP has not been advised to call all psychotherapists liars and to completely disregard the option of consulting them. Those were your words. He's been advised about thinking twice being seeing one in China, and he was aware of that already. He got suggestions about searching for professionals abroad, and looking into self-help methods in the meantime.

-It's not about food restriction, prohibition or lowering one's life. It's about educating yourself on what foods have strong effects on moods, trying new food and indulging in some that positively affect your brain chemistry. Eating chocolate, fruits, herbs, veggies, nuts etc.. certainly doesn't makes those who are conscious about their own health more miserable. In addition of being generally healthy, those foods naturally help in having higher levels of serotonin that is projected to the amygdala, which affects emotions like anxiety, fear and depression if it has low levels of serotonin. Plus those foods are cheap, don't cost your estimated multi thousands of RMB.

-Medication can help, but not in the way you suggest. You can't treat sedative drugs like taking multivitamins and they definitely don't have the same effects of salt if used wrongly. Those drugs have a long list of side effects, and serious withdrawal symptoms. In the previous posts, it's been suggested that the OP's partner gets a serious follow up from qualified professionals if she gets prescribed drugs, instead of casually eating them like m&m's.

since when is seeing a therapist. "when things go well?"lol

only a therapist can give a right or close to the ballpark diagnosis. and which you can follow or leave it. but you will also know what can go wrong or bad if you don't take it seriously.

if medz are just palliative then i think anything else is as well. since many of the mental problems are rooted so deeply.

some of the "evil" medz help over time to manage the hormonal and chemical balance in the long run. some patients can reduce,and some even stop using medz.

let.s not get carried away too much.

would be great to hear about some of those poisonous and addictive killer medz.

dawenchina.com looks kinda a little bit creepy, IMO.

are they religious? what is their consulting average fee?

none of the professional members is referred to by name or how they qualify for counseling serious issues.

the newsletter rules are very strange and creepy.

dunno maybe i am wrong and maybe they are real great people but judging from their web presence, they scream "stay away". at leat in my opinion.
