This is not a government requirement at the moment, but many hotels want to see a covid19 negative test certificate, before they will let you book in. These test results are only valid for 7 days, and so get a test closer to your departure.
How to get the tests is discussed here www.gokunming.com/[...]
If anyone is going to visit family in rural villages, there are additional restrictions for all people, including Chinese.

On a tangent, and more relevant to 'lifers'. If anyone renews their passport, keep the old one handy. We have had to do things in the past that required me to register with my passport details. We have had to revisit some of these, and I needed my old passport details in order to access files (paper and electronic) in order to use a facility or change details. This included, but was not limited to, banking.

I had a frozen bank account that took some sorting out. As well as the old passport, this also required me to get my old payroll details from an old employer who has now ceased to exist. So maybe keep safe any payroll details you have.

It sounds like it might be the bank verification process. If so you will need to contact your bank. If it is a new account set up by your employer, you may need to get the bank account number, payroll number, or other details from the company accountant, before you go to the bank. When you go to the bank, you should take your passport too.

I lived in Shanghai for a number of years, it is pretty humid all year round. The summer is hot and wet, and yes once you walk out of the door in the morning you know you will be drenched in sweat all day. The winter is cold and damp, with the damp getting into everything, bedding, clothes, even your bones.

Pay in Shanghai is much higher, but you need the extra money just for apartment rents and higher prices for entertainment.
Shanghai is a good place for work, entertainment, shopping, and transportation, but it really is living in the rat race. Shanghai offers a higher standard of living, Kunming by comparison is more relaxed and offers a better quality of life. IMHO.

I think the advantages for short term rental ebikes are the same as they were for short rental bicycles. With the added advantages of no additional cost charging, and no overnight parking issues (ebikes worse than bikes for this one).
The other advantages for the user, shared by both ebike and bicycle, include: free parking, can park anywhere, you can cross town on the metro and pick up another ride, no concern about theft (a big concern), and I am sure there are others.
