Forums > Living in Kunming > BYD F0 anyone?

Get out of town on days off,, explore Yunnan. Those kinds of things. Maybe I am just a bit baffled over the price since the cheapest cars where I am from usually cost 4 times as much. It's is a good looking little compact though,, gotta say I am tempted.

Seen plenty of these compacts around lately and since the starting price apparently is set at 30.000 for the basic model I am interested to know if any foreigners here have driven it or maybe even have bought one?.

I know the design is a Peugeot 107/Toyota Aygo ripoff but I still like it a lot and it has made me rethink the whole I'll-never-buy-a-car-here issue. What do you guys think about it? If you don't recognize the name then here is a link. I'm sure you've seen them on the roads.

As other people have said, yes the search function is practically useless. More local news would be great but a brief daily update would probably take a lot of work. National and foreign news? nah, we can get that elsewhere. The forum could use some updating including more features and categories. I'd love to get more stories on short day trips to interesting places near Kunming and although I know there is a vibrant biking community here and the articles they write are good reads we aren't all into fighting 18 wheelers on the freeways.

All in all your concept seems fitting for this city and I don't really have any big ideas as you guys are doing pretty good with this site already. The forum though,,,

Found out that China Eastern is the carrier doing the KM-Kath route but on their website they seemingly have no flights (searched on all 7 days of the week) on the Chinese site since the English version naturally was useless as usual when it comes to Chinese airlines. 2 of the world's largest travel sites showed that it is in fact China Eastern. Oh well,, I am sure they would have given me the foreigner price online anyway.

Sounds like a job well done containing it but I do wonder why the fire marshal and the relevant authorities haven't addressed the narrow streets issue previously. There are plenty different types of light/narrow fire engines specifically built for allowing access to such places, and the cost compared to losing Lijiang's old town in the worst case scenario (and the loss of tourist revenue) is negligible. Sadly, in China it is tradition that things have to get really, really bad before they get better.

Went there yesterday and it totally made my week. Nice decor and friendly staff and a real salad bar. Sadly we both wanted mexican food so I can't really say much about their other courses. The food was great but just a tad spicier would have improved the dish. The best thing was that we almost had the place to ourselves and we could have a quiet conversation without shouting, spitting Chinese people in the background. I realised how much I had missed that since coming here.

We went to Chicago Coffee a couple of days ago and it was a nice experience. The place is cozy with soft comfy chairs (I realized how much I have missed one since coming here) and they have a nice little collection of English language books in the corner consisting mainly of classics and travel litterature. I was looking forward to trying their advertized tortilla bar but it wasn't up and running that evening.

Instead we went for 2 12 inch pizzas -roast chicken and pepperoni- but we quickly realized that 1 would have been enough. Those things are heavy. I am mainly into Italian style pizza but Chicago's double layered pizzas are well worth a try. Their coffee seems to be a bit on the expensive side but people say good things about it and they have got a nice selection. I wouldn't mind dropping by again some day,, hopefully when they've got the tortilla thing going. English speaking staff btw.
