Idea about getting Taxi services better

Ifoundthetuna (370 posts) • 0

As we all know Kunming Taxi drivers are considered to be the nations worst. According to Kunming residents and Chinese tourists alike.

The problem is, we the customers only have the hotline to contact and they are equally inconsiderate.

So I have an idea, the only thing it needs is someone with IT knowledge to set up a website where we can expose the drivers by taking pictures of them, buzzing by with red meter lights on or if they give you a funny price, just take a pic of their license on their passenger seat or just the license plate. Whenever they break the rules of their own company or law, you take a pic but only of the license plate or Taxi ID [never the person, since it's legally difficult]

I did it yesterday after no kidding 28 vacant cabs passed, and the ones that stopped didn't want to give me a ride because of traffic jam or inconvenient times....etc.

I'm sick of it.

If we expose them and show who they are they have to deal with the consequences and we have actual proof for the taxi companies and we could force them to act.

Anyone interested?

Better to do a tech startup like uber. That company seems very good at making cabbies angry.

Or hold out till line 2 opens! Then bike to any subway station.

If you could make it work it seems like a great way to generate a backlash in terms of a boycott of foreigners by taxi drivers. My guess is that we need them more than they need us.

'If you could make it work' is a pretty large caveat since if I can get a taxi I'm not going to stop and check if it's on someone's blacklist.

Possibly another less than brilliant idea with unintended consequences? Tipping in general is a disease and since China is mostly free of this disease it would be good to keep it that way.

it's not about blacklisting it's about public exposure. And putting pressure on the companies, who at the moment don't care about anything.
With that website you could even go to the government hotline.

It's not just a problem for foreigners all my Chinese friends, some of them Kunming locals are really mad at Kunming cabbies.

If you start giving them tips you are just encouraging them to be even more terrible than they already are.

If they are avoiding foreigners [which they already do, so I can't imagine it getting worse than it already is.]

Plus guys think in the other direction. The website could also expose the great and fantastic drivers. Which may lead to a raise in quality.

It's not a perfect idea, but I noticed in the last three years I am here, it got worse on an epic scale.

Have you considered the law on the issue of 'exposing' people in the course of carrying out their business or any of the catch all rules about disrupting harmonious society? You can guarantee if there is one or you do anything remotely illegal you would come off worst.
