i understand the concerns of misuse but also feel it is so hard to get good information on potential employers that the best we can do is try and make a forum for it. this can be especially useful for people who have never been to kunming.
for me, it is easy to pick out gripers and cynics from the way they write and the overall tenor of their statements.
my opinion of my past employer is not meant to slander anyone. the opinions are not just mine but also what many of my ex-colleagues who are still my friends also thought.
if anyone disagrees with my assessment of i2 (the international institute of education), please feel free to post otherwise, which will show us all that maybe things have changed there for the better, though i have heard they have not, i cannot know for sure since i no longer work for them.
as for those of you who think this is naive or not useful, you come across as jaded and such thoughts are not really productive (sorry to say they border on trolling as this thread is not really there for such people anyway). ideally please leave this thread to only useful and productive comments so we can learn what we can form each other and try and help someone benefit from the experiences of others.
thanks again for sharing your thoughts!
my 2 cents' worth:
Seems to me the thread is a good idea.
Napoleon is right: the door is ajar - but you don't have to open it.
Would be fine to see different opinions, what's wrong with that? Strikes me as indeed useful, especially for people applying from overseas.
Note that employers may certainly exchange comments about employees/former employees - and/but they do it privately, among themselves, no?
as a boss why would i helps competitors avoid bad staff? people suggest starting such forums most years in every china city i have lived in and they don’t happen. usually started by an unhappy ex employee who doesn’t know how china works yet. not jaded just a fact
@tampopo
It seems you've fallen down your own traps. Your post seems more like a vulpine stab at whoever this office employee is - hidden behind "outing" bad employers.
You haven't given too much detail and therefore its obviously something personal and of great importance to YOU rather than some altruistic warning to others.
Of course you've made the disgruntled English teacher's ubiquitous "educational practices" reference for good measure but what it reads as is exactly what you want others to avoid - vendetta.
You, for whatever reason, have not been able to make amiable agreement on one thing or another whilst in this company's employ and in frustration or annoyance have started a thread through the subterfuge of somehow contributing to the greater good in order to land a few more blows.
And you've done it all without using capital letters.
i fully disagree. i want to help others to make an informed choice just as i would like others to help me do the same.
if you read more into it, that says more about you then about me and how i choose to lead my life. you do not know me and have no way of knowing my motives, do you? assuming what they are is a reflection of yourself more than anything since not all the other post-ers take my words as you do.
what others choose to post is up to them. if we want to move beyond an increasingly vindictive world, then we must take the high road always, without exception. by denigrating others, we ultimately damage ourselves.
anyway, please leave the topic and your negative comments aside and let those who want to posts about experiences with employers not get mired in your own personal issues and opinions. that is not what this thread is for!
You're right - I don't know you and there is probably good reason for that.
Just to ad - I have no affiliation with any school in Kunming. If you're trying to convince me that working for a training school is shit, message received - You're preaching to the converted.
I'm suspicious how you want others to make an informed opinion. You seem to have appeared out of the blue - having not helped people make an informed decision on the best burgers, a good barber or whatever on other threads. Then, all of a sudden here you are. You want to make people aware of the pitfalls of a training school, mentioning that school only, so perhaps you don't have any other previous teaching experience to compare with. All 4 of your tedious posts have been about the same subject. You've tried to hide all this around the wider subject but the urge of a personal grievance seems too strong for you to avoid.
I'm just here to point out the hypocrisy from the very few posts you've made. Evidently I am not allowed an opinion because it doesn't fit your mantra.
The road best taken would be with the school directly, rather that stirring on Go Kunming.
You're not doing new comers any favours, nor yourself on this current path.
the reason i do not add my words on other threads is because they either do not interest me or are none of my business. if only you could learn to do the same rather than troll what may be of use to others, we'd all be better off.
now i hope those who, like me, would like to learn about who is good or not to work for would share their thoughts so i can make an informed choice next time i look for a job in kunming.
thanks!
Usually the high turnover speak for themselves.
The schools that are always looking for teachers on Gokunming I would avoid working for.
