Hello,
I know it's a long shot, but I read an article that said Rousettus leshchenaultii a species of fruit bat were found in Kunming a few years ago. Does anyone know whether they are still here? thanks :)

The only place you will find them in Kunming is dried and powdered in a TCM shop.
then there are those that stalk foreirngers
I'll endeavor to be marginally more helpful than the past two replies. I have seen big bats (maybe 30cm wingspan?) in one of the caves outside of Kunming. But I don't know if they are the same ones you referred to. A friend who is more attentive thinks they are migratory, i.e. they are only around during the warmer months. There is another, smaller, species that seems to stick around all year.
some bats like just hangin around
@ DanTheMan, thanks! that could be, when you have time maybe you could send me a pm to tell me which caves? I'm hoping to do post-grad. study on bats and since I've been living in Kunming for the last year and due back there in October it would be really nice if there were megabats near Kunming. I'm not there now so I can't go and have a look for another month.
