Just heard that many Walmarts are closing and guarded by police. Anyone going to the parking lot gets arrested. Many chinese now, especially the young, watch underground news and are learning about the west. The EU is bankrupt, so lets see if Greece departs. If they do, I am sure Spain and a few other countries will follow.
yeah but US and China are not the only 2 countries on the planet. if i was rich, i would live in neither.
haha, waldemorts are guarded by police. is that a bad thing or a good thing? oh, good! we can't get in, ethel. guess we'll have to shop at a place that isn't owned by the devil now.
Walmart is closing 5 stores probably over labor disputes and and chicken little runs around again screaming the sky is falling the sky is falling. What a sad reality some people choose to live in.
If the overseas students dont want to return to China, many expats leaving (particularly Beijing) and many of the wealthy Chinese leaving - this is actually a quite serious scenario/situation on a whole.
Something went wrong in the Chinese Dream.
Looking at previous history across the globe, the main reasons for migration include:
Economic. Fleeing poverty for the poor. For for the rich increasing the size of, or fear of losing, your stash.
Political. Ethnic tensions/persecution, or just plain don't like/trust the gubmint.
Survival: War/pestilence/famine.
@yuantongsi: nope, not all clubs for hobbies & sports etc. are controlled by the party - small-scale ones exist everywhere, including Kunming.
@mike-agair: don't quite understand 'get our money back' - you mean from the corporations?
'Something went wrong in the Chinese Dream'
The clue is in the name Peter. It's a dream. Not reality. It's sad that the Chinese dream seems basically the same as the American dream. Look how the American dream has gone for of Americans - they are basically slaves to their own and others greed. China has followed the same path.
A lot of national 'dreams' are globally dysfunctional, as well as being unrealistic.
@laotou 'all the money taken from (you) to give to foreign countries' - see Jeffrey D. Sachs, The End of Poverty - not sufficient, in my opinion, but the analysis of foreign aid in it will show you a few things you might not be aware of.
perhaps they travel overseas and get hooked on the novelty of solid bowel movements. you cant beat a good solid dump.
@tiger: your reasons for historical migrations, and present, increasing ones - yes. Presently being fueled by governments & corporations.
