These posts further strengthen my previously-stated opinion that Trump, in himself, is far from being the main problem. I'm beginning to appreciate the escape into football, a decent sort of environment - but it's sad & scary.

What is this thread about, and why has it gone in the directions(s) it has? Perhaps we should just discuss everything all at once, connecting random un-analyzed opinions in long chains through our individualized violent private alice-in-wonderland fantasies, with all reason left in our wake? Many hear seem to be writing like Donald Trump talks - would be easy to blame this on the Americans who still believe that Trump's election, and their own choices, represent something close to democracy, except for the fact that many contributors seem not to be from the US.
My pessimism grows with almost every post - how to Resist this tidal swamp of irrationality? Seems that Trump is merely a sign of the times , but what IS sanity, anyway?
I don't blame Trump for all the generalized anti-Islamic hysteria, and in numerous places in the US the anti-Latino-immigrant attitudes, that are so prevalent among Americans these days, but I doubt that he will do much to improve the situation. As far as anti-Latino attitudes are concerned, he's already obviously done a lot of damage with ideas like building a wall between the US and Mexico.
Can we keep this a little closer to the subject, which is Trump vs. Resistance?
The rich and powerful and 'successful' don't resist the systems that allow them to be rich and powerful and 'successful', because that would deprive them of the use of those who make them that way. They do fight with each other, tho, often by using the rest of us to do so.
Trump thinks he's won this round, but I wonder.

Not quite what you'd call a jumping place, but not bad at all for rather standard US-type meals, not overly expensive, and with a really good salad bar that's cheap, or free with most dinner dishes after 5:30PM. You can get a bottle of beer or even wine if you really want to, but I've never seen anybody do it - maybe that's just to take out. Chinese Christian run, and they hire people with physical disadvantages, who are pleasant and helpful. Frequented by foreign (mostly North American) Christians and Chinese Christians - was started by a Canadian couple associated with Bless China (previously, Project Grace), who are no longer here, but no religious pressure or any of that. Steaks are nothing special, and I avoid the Korean dishes, which I've had a few times but which did not impress me.
As a shop and bakery, it's very good bread at reasonable prices, of various kinds (Y18 for a good multigrain loaf that certainly weighs well over a pound. Other stuff too, like granola and oatmeal that is local, as well as imported things, including American cornflakes and so forth, which some people seem to require.
Large portions, seriously so with the pizza, which is Brooklyn/American style, I guess. Convivial, conversational, good place to drink with good folks on both sides of the bar, especially after about 9PM.
Too bourgeois.
Really good pizza and steaks. The wine machine fuddles me when I'm a bit fuddled, & seems unnecessary. Good folks on both sides of the bar.
Ain't no flies on Salvador's.

Government sues parents to get kids back to school
Posted by@nnoble: don't follow - who or what is rotting? I can think of various candidates, but I'm not sure which one you're talking about.
Government sues parents to get kids back to school
Posted byThere are economic issues concerning education in China for very poor communities, which obviously need a bigger share of the economic pie than they are getting. Yet China's 'socialist market economy' is increasing the overall level of economic resources within China.
