he thought he was driving over a trash bag - So he backed up and ran over the bag 3 times just for good measure.
I hate it when I get trash on my Beemer tires.

My goodness
Mike - I have no intentions of returning to the US but one never knows what will happen in the future. As the entire world is getting so sick (No-Fly List) and Big Brother is everywhere, I can foresee that ALL (citizens + residents) people who have been abroad for a lengthy period of time will eventually have to prove that they were GOOD before they return to their home country. I am merely anticipating things to come.
I rather go through this headache while I am in China rather than trying to do it after I return like the poor guy who is seeking answers on this thread - Better Safe than Sorry.
Is the OP a citizen (Canadian) or a resident (Chinese)?

Since this certificate is now required to get some jobs in China as well as when returning to your home country it should not be too difficult to make up a story to get it.
As was mentioned above, this certificate has an expiration date so using an old certificate MAY help in getting a new one (MAYBE).
I have been here for 12 years so I will take the time and spend the money to get one when I renew my RP in May 2016.
I realize this is a complete waste of time and money since the certificate will expire and all has been done in vain. In any case, I will post the results here when I have completed the task.
Since my certificate will cover over a decade and 2 passports I can at least keep the expired certificate as proof that I was CLEAR since my arrival to China.
I am sure these procedures will eventually change with time.
Many good ideas here - I recommend you try to increase ventilation for now - the rains will end by October - no need to invest in any gadgets after the rains stop - this has been an especially wet rainy season -

The new Visa office is located at 118 Tuo Dong Road. There is no number on the building yet so do not bother to look for it. There are 2 passport photo shops on either side of the building. The office is located directly in front of the Kunming Museum. The bus stop is named - Shi Bo Wu Guan - Bus 1, 62, 109, 117, 145, 213, A1 and K3 stop directly in front of the office. Foreigners need to go to the 3rd floor. The Tuo Dong Stadium is located to the right of the office while Baita Road is located to the left of the office.
Yunnan's Stone Treasure: Shibao Mountain
Posted byYou can rent a taxi from Jianchuan for 200 Yuan. The taxi will take you to all 3 temples and bring you back to Jianchuan.
You can also do the entire loop for 250 Yuan. Jianchuan to Shi Bao Shan then on to Shaxi and then back to Jianchuan.
I recommend you stay an extra day and climb 1000 Lion Mountain. I really like this place.
Kunming PSB issues public safety edict
Posted byI went to the train station a few days ago and noticed that the security check is now on the street in front of the Big Bull Statue. I can finally take a picture of the bull without all the people standing around it.

Yunnan preparing warily for China smoking ban
Posted byI have seen many changes over the last 10 years here in Kunming. Although smoking still has a long way to go, it is much improved than it was in the past.
Most taxis are now 100% smoke free. Street buses are 100% smoke free now. Long distance buses are also 100% smoke free. The only problem still seems to be the small buses that go to the villages.
Chinese consumers of rare animals now face prison
Posted byMy wife just translated this article for me. This is our little critter as it mentions our residential quarter. Glad to see he has a few more days of life in the wilderness before someone else recaptures him.
