"It is precisely because we had this open and candid discussion that he realized that discrimination is an unacceptable part of western society and that he should not engage in it if he wishes to interact with us."

Doubt it. He may have learned not be so up front about this particular form of discrimination otherwise he won't get to post his ad, but its pretty clear what he is after and I'm sure he will select the candidate he wants.

Many ways to skin a cat
"1. The rule should uniformly apply to all offensive and objectionable material in the forum, not just discrimination"

As the OP, this was my main point. Rules is rules but at least they should be applied an an even- handed manner. I'm thinking most people would go along with that

I know some schools here* who prefer to hire black people because they feel they can pay them less, make them work longer hours, and not provide them a visa.

"I agree that photos is a sensitive issue, but also in the western world almost every resume nowadays goes with a photo...maybe soon with a facebook account??"

Not in the 3 Western countries I have lived and worked. Are you in the modelling or porn industries by chance?

This is called a "dialogue", that is, a voluntary 2 way discussion amongst equals. In this case it looks like America brought up specific issues of concern regarding China, and China did likewise re America. If two countries, each with a less than stellar human rights record, enter into such a process does that make them both hypocrites, and therefore they would be better to not enter into it at all?
Should only countries with perfect human right records be allowed to discuss other countries human rights situation? Who would be talking in that case?

The bathroom in the photo is clean enough to eat your dinner off!
Was it taken in another province? I recall the public facilities about half way between KM and Dali used to be particularly pungent in the hot summer months. Hopefully they'll be top of the list.

"Comparing Pakistan and China is like comparing apple and oranges."

And in todays news....

www.china.org.cn/china/2013-06/26/content_29235157.htm

"Riots left 27 people dead early Wednesday in a remote town in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, local authorities said.

The riots happened at around 6 a.m. in Lukqun township of Shanshan County in Turpan Prefecture.

Knife-wielding mobs attacked the township's police stations, the local government building and a construction site, stabbing at people and setting fire to police cars, officials with Xinjiang's regional committee of the Communist Party of China confirmed.

Seventeen people had been killed — including nine policemen or security guards and eight civilians — before police opened fire and shot dead 10 rioters, the officials said on condition of anonymity.

Three rioters were seized at the scene and police were chasing those who had fled, the officials said without clarifying how many were at large.

Three people were injured by the mobs and were being treated at a local hospital.

Police have launched an investigation."

Good to know you're not speculating $h.... If this is what happens when "you kill innocent people with drones" then why did similar events occur before the US deployed and used drones?

Why are you so sure its "drone- specific"?

Yeah, thank God nobody, least of all China, killed anyone in the name of Communism!
I'm actually in Urumqi, and lived here during the 2009 riot in which hundreds were slaughtered. If you had told me then "how good life is here in China" I wouldve choked on my kebab.

Hey liuming, am I too stupid to learn by living here, or does this not count as one of "these regions"?

"In January 2012 we ended up with a lazy cook that produced very inconsistent dish quality, one day good, the next terrible, especially obvious on Pizza. Because it was just before Chinese New Year we could not fire him without problem staffing the kitchen."

Interesting that you made the decision to serve often "terrible" food, which people had to pay for presumably, rather than just close the kitchen until you could find a cook that didnt serve terrible fare. If I were you, and having been to your establishment once I speak with limited experience, I'd be extremely grateful with the 4 stars you already have

Is this place new, has it just changed to a fantastic new menu, or are there other forces at play here?

Any old timers or Michelin- rated French chefs who have recently moved to KM been here?

"chongzijia" would it be wrong of me to assume you had a relationship with this guesthouse? If so don't you think you should state this up front, and possibly abstain from giving a star rating?
Actually I think if you pay for an ad you are able to write an intro for your business...

Otherwise your review may appear to be slightly disingenuous? These reviews have low enough credibility as it is. Just a thought.

I went there over the winter. Beer was nice and cold but the bar appeared to have no roof. Perhaps it has one now...
