Forums > Living in Kunming > Big Foot needs shoes.

Oh man, looks like i've run into the same problem as you guys... I managed to get a pair of sandals where my feet stick out a bit but I really want to get some casual smart shoes to wear.

My feet are a 45. Reading through these posts, looks like Taobao might be ok, but can still be small size. Can anyone confirm if there is a shoe place in Kunming selling?

I did hear some places can make shoes for you.

I am sure Astrill are technically good and can support my issues. However, I felt with the random problems i was getting with my chrome browser since installing it, that this service was not suitable.

They would not give me a refund when i explained my issue and tried troubleshooting it with them. So, as I had paid with paypal, I went through them . So far they have cancelled my subscription but am chasing the refund. A good VPN service should not make you jump through hoops to get a refund during a trial period. That's my 2 cents worth.

I would not recommend Astril. I signed up so I could check them out. VPN speeds seemed fine but when I found it caused problems with my web browser when i was not connected and they could not fix it I asked to cancel within the 7 day free trial and they are doing everything to say no.

Forums > Living in Kunming > ADSL or Network internet connection?

Old thread to post to but I wanted to find out what the go was with the internet in China.

We are moving into a brand new tower block, not all the apartments have been finished off in Bei Chen area / north.

I saw a single wall outlet for a tv coax and then the other side has a telephone line and a coax connection in the same wall mount. Having read this post, it's possible that I can either get cable or adsl.

A chinese friend said she could sort it out for us and mentioned a box and also different providers depending on what part of the city you live in.

Not sure how accurate this all is.

I would like to try and get a good speed (ADSL2+) . Realise it's all dependent on the distance from the exchange and setup in this 30 floor tower block.

So not sure if i need to get an ADSL modem myself, what speed offerings are typical from China telecom, if it is unlimited or by the GB and prices...

any incite appreciated.

Forums > Living in Kunming > Android phone for China Mobile

I had a Chinese friend take me to a shop where she said I could get it for 1499. I asked them if it was the snapdragon 800 WCDMA phone. They did not understand but said it would work abroad.

That wasnt enough for me as I knew the Tegra 4 chipset was not the one i wanted. In the end i gave up as it could not be clarified what the chipset was.

I will try and look for WDCMA and snapdragon 800 to make sure I get the correct one. If anyone knows the chinese for this, that would be great.

Before arriving in China, I had read a lot of articles and news stories about China investing heavily in green tech. I was very surprised to see no solar panels or wind turbines in Kunming. Only when I went to Dali did I see street lights power by wind and sun. A missed opportunity.
