I try not to add to the problem... like to walk and cycle where i can. Sadly as standard of living goes up and travel is easier it's not so easy.
Think an air purifier will be the go for the nights.
Thank you everyone for sharing...

Thanks for that info... looks like an air purifier will be the go in the bedroom.
Shame that they are destroying the very quality of life that attracted people to move to Kunming. Then again, money is easy to quantify while quality of life is not.
How does the 1800 metre elevation play with breathing? A few weeks to get used to ? and straying off topic a little, still water supply issues?
Thanks for the heads up tigertiger. Guess it will be a bit of luck of the draw as my wife and me with bub in tow will be looking to do TEFL for a year. Want to strike the right balance of quality of life, work, adventures, without worrying about air quality. Being realistic though as I realise all that development, vehicles and people are going to be an issue. Lets hope that refinery south of Kunming doesn't get built. The sooner the world moves away from a carbon economy the better it will be for everyone.
Hey Kunming forums people! I am thinking of coming to Kunming with my wife and toddler in Sept to work. We researched different cities and air quality was high on our list of reasons for moving to a city. Kunming was in a top 10 list.
Having read different posts I am starting to think Kunming is not so healthy air wise.... Is it not safe to live in for toddlers or are there just good and bad days?
How does the air quality compare to the UK... having grown up their I know a bit about London air...

Spring City looks to embrace sweeping green agenda
Posted byBefore arriving in China, I had read a lot of articles and news stories about China investing heavily in green tech. I was very surprised to see no solar panels or wind turbines in Kunming. Only when I went to Dali did I see street lights power by wind and sun. A missed opportunity.
