Oh, I don't know. I was hit by US drivers 4-5 times when crossing the streets there, once hard enough to be tossed across the road and into the ditch. The driver watched to see me get up, mouthed "I'm sorry" and zoomed off. I've never been hit by a chinese drivers in more that 15 years crossing streets in China.
I've heard vaguely of a Paris Cafe etc. in University City. If I'm standing at the U. City subway station, how do I find the foreigner restaurant/bars?
So how do I find the Paris Cafe if I'm at the University City subway station?
Subway goes to the East Long Distance Bus Station. From there, bus or taxi are easy.

I've stayed here many times over the years and been very satisfied. Central location, comfortable rooms, reasonable prices. Some might mind the noise from the Bad Monkey Bar across the street, but I've always been able to sleep. The staff is very helpful with bus tickets, excursion tickets and the like.
Does anyone know if this is still a going concern? Or destroyed by the fire?
One of my favorite places in Jing Hong! It's my landmark, the center of the hotel, restaurant, bike, etc., area. I discovered dark Beer Lao there!
But getting to the S. bus station takes another hour....

There are far fewer small markets than there used to be.

I'd love to buy jianbing or baozi as I walk to early class. I'd put my money in their pockets willingly.
I've bought food from one woman vendor for ten years now, and somehow the sky has not fallen.

Posted byI like the vendors. They are useful to me. They need the money, too. If I wanted to buy everything from a few monopoly corporations, I'd've stayed in the US.
