Well, Dajiujia is a Tengchong food. People in Kunming often call it Chao Erkuai(炒饵块). Most Yunnan food restaurants can cook it. Or you can try to cook it by yourself. en.kunming.cn/index/content/2012-06/01/content_2972958.htm all the ingredients can be bought in KM markets.
Most of the chao erkuai I have had in Kunming is smothered in heavy salty sugary brown sauce and oil. The picture in the article of dajiujia looks much lighter. Your right though, cooking yourself is best.
had good Chao Erkuai here: www.gokunming.com/en/listings/item/tus_33006/
if you walk 0n 121 lu(the street were the camel is at).walk from the camel to beijing lu but stay on the right side of the street.when you hit beijing lu,you will have the metro construction side in front of you and on your right hand a wedding shop turn right into a small street that split of from beiijing lu.first you will walk along the construction site until the shops start again on your left hand ther are only about 6 shops on that side of the street at the other side all the shops are closed.if you pase the bike shope, than the next restaurant has the best dajuijia in kunming or maybe yunnan.i go there for the last 2 years twice a week and its amazing.while i write this water drips from my mouth.i quickly go there.bey
