Hi,
I'd like to gain a scholarship at one of Kunming's universities for 2011 and I'm pretty confused about my options and chances of success. I've got a Bachelor degree (not in Mandarin) and can speak at a beginner level after spending one semester at KCELC in 2009.
I see there is this whole Confucious Institute thing but heard about another offered by the Yunnan universities.
Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks.
Last year i got a csc(China scholarship council) scholarship. They sent me nanjing normal university for 1 year of language study and then i was supposed to go to ynnu to get my bachelors degree.
It was awful. i'm not gonna go into all the blah blah blah. but after a year i decided to just pay for my own study and i am so much happier. 2 months salary teaching english pays for a whole years tuition. and it's soooo worth it not to have to deal those people. the csc people and college 办公室 workers are some of the worst people i have met in china.
i could write pages and pages about how much these people suck. My advice is just teach a little english pay your own tuition and steer clear of these people.
Good luck, I was able to get a CSC scholarship for 云南师范大学 and I have really enjoyed studying in Kunming.

I know that many people now have scholarships through the Confucius Institute. Both the the Confucius Institute and the CSC are offering many scholarships to people all over the world and there is a good chance that you would get one. 加油!!!
