Lijiang area and Guilin

EG Chang (3 posts) • 0

Hello,
We are flying from Kunming to Lijiang for a days and then on to Guilin. We have planned the following itinerary. We have hired a guide and driver for the Lijiang area portion. Would welcome any input. We have hotels set up except for Tea Horse Guest House

and Yangshou.

Day 1: Baisha and Lijiang, overnight in Shuhe.
Day 2: Drive to Shaxi, tour Shaxi, overnight Shaxi. (Daughter did home stay there.)
Day 3: Shaxi market, drive to Tiger Leaping Gorge, get dropped off at Halfway House, walk to Tea Horse House, overnight there.
Day 4: Walk to Tina's, meet driver, drive to Shangri La. Tour Shangri La, over night there.
Day 5: More Shangri La, overnight there.
Day 6: Drive to Lijiang, fly to Guilin. Overnight Guilin.
Day 7: Rice paddy trip. Overnight Guilin.
Day 8: River cruise to Yangshou. Over night Yangshou.
Day 9: Tour Yangshou, overnight Yangshou.
Day 10: Back to Guilin for train to Shanghai.....
Some specific questions: Do we need reservations for Tea Horse Guest House or do hikers just show up?
Any recommendations for hotels in Yangshou? We prefer intimate and local vs. large and international chain.
Any recommendations of things to do in Guilin? Is the night market worthwhile?
Do we need to book in advance for the rice paddy and boat trip? Or can we do that when we get there.
Anything specific we shouldn't miss in these areas?
Many thanks.

What is a 'rice paddy trip'?
Suggest you either leave out either Yunnan or Guilin/Yangshuo - too much running around.

I agree with aliennew, but since you do have a driver and guide and are flying to guilin, it's a workable itinerary.

Yes, it’s a lot of running around but likely our only visit to this part of China. I should have said rice terraces. If anyone has a reccomenxation for which tour to take to Longsheng, or where to stay in Yangzhou, that would be great.
