As much as it bothers you, Neddy won't admit that he is someone else and even if he is, he wouldn't have to. That is the beauty of the internet, and keeps many people safe from bad stuff. Or just for the comfort of it.

I don't actually have any beef with hfcampo, at all, his opinions and ideas strike me as extreme and a little to intolerant but I have other friends that have a strong opinion or a strange one [IMHO]. But they have tolerance and respect for others ideas and opinion. They admit if they have been coming on too strong, or have been a a bit too much.

Concerning changing Chinese culture, the OP: a sign of this (not terribly profound, I think, but nevertheless it has a point) was mentioned by OP. I am REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, REALLY glad, after reading all the vitriolic posts, that nobody has appointed the posters to carry this out. I'll be happy to criticize some elements of Chinese culture, but the nature of the egotistical war in this thread makes me appreciate much of it a great deal more.

As the OP, and aside of all the dick measuring, I posted the link for two specific reasons:

First, some of the posters here think Chinese culture static and any deviation from the poster's perception, misinformed and trivialized perception, of Chinese culture is proof of character defects in the persona of any that disagree with self proclaimed defenders of all things Chinese.

Second, the methodology used to find cultural shifts is extremely interesting if only because of the technology employed. The results the study are presented and provide prima facie evidence of a shift in cultural attitudes concerning an important ideological issue.

Given the China leadership's need to control discourse, in the interest of social security, the study emphasizes the importance, and value, of individual words.
