Dear all,
I've heard and read about the big fire which destroyed most of the old city in Shangri-la and I'd like to know if it's worth to go there anyway.
(If it's true, burning to rebuild is a shame and a blame.)
SGL is still worth visiting in spite of the fire last year. Many of the homes have been rebuilt and there is still plenty to see.
Yes, it's still worth going. As others have stated, the main reason for visiting is to see the surrounding countryside, but you can still spend some time in what's left of the old town.
Anybody know when the 'old' town was actually built?
