On another Website I am connected with, we got around the problem of 'bogus' accounts using privileges, by only allowing those members who have made 25 contributory posts to use the privilege.

Postings like, 'yes', 'nice one', 'agree with you mate', etc. are considered non-contributory.

Forums > Living in Kunming > Ebola Virus WTF!

This phenomenon does actually have a name. 'The media attention cycle'.

Although the outbreak of Ebola is very concerning, I recently read an article that compared it to past outbreaks of Poliomyelitis. Which has been almost eradicated in most countries now, but there is still a risk of outbreaks.
When we compare small pox which is estimated to have killed between 300 to 500 million people in the 20th Century. We can see that this Ebola outbreak is by comparison less of an impact.

However, we should still be concerned, yes we should do everything to contain it, and try to eradicate the disease.

I would agree that the teaching is very good. However, there were a number of students who had visa problems this summer, as in Huayang was having visa applications declined.

There are lots of RC toys on Taobao, but not many RC models. They are asking 2000-3000 for toys that are in Carrefour and Walmart for 200-300. It must be Christmas.

Even in model shops, you will not get any bargains. China is very expensive for a lot of RC stuff. It is much cheaper to buy in HongKong. Maybe only 1/3 the price in HK.

2.4Ghz Radio gear in HK is only 25-30% of the prices I have seen here.

Blobbles, if there are not trees, you may be able to make out farmers routes on Google Earth. You can sometimes.

If you have personal GPS you could also check progress by pre-defining lat-long from Google Earth before you leave home and write them on a print out.

Just an idea.

A reasonable choice of lumber that has improved over time. Fancy hardwoods like walnut, and mahogany are in abundance. There are some plywood and rubber-wood boards available. There are also some kiln dried imported softwoods and merbao available. Some of the lumber is very green, so look for the kiln dried if you need stable timbers.

Echo everything said by others.
Breakfast great and the serve from 8am. Most other places say 9am and they still are not ready.
Sandwiches are cheap 22-32, and really packed full of filling. We got some sandwiches for a day out, the only mistake I made was ordering two, as this was too much. These are seriously good sangars, and they are wrapped in alu foil.

In fairness to Metro, they are a wholesalers, and not really a supermarket. Hence the need for a card, which can be got around.

They have improved in the year I have been away. They now carry a more consistent range of imported foodstuffs and they also seem to have sorted out the mported milk supply.

They have a wider range of electrical appliances now, there is a coice of more than one toast. There is also a better range of seasonal non foods, like clothes, shoes, garden furniture and camping gear.
