The water you had for a few minutes was probably a build up of low residual pressure (head of water) over time. Once a couple of people in your block have opened a faucet it disappears.

I saw the shutdown was on the local news this morning.
Since 2000 I have had two cancerous growths removed from my face.
Kunming altitude makes the UV more of an issue.
Altitude and pollution combined are also said to be specifically harmful.
The AQI does affect my health and my behavior. If I exercise when the AQI is high I do become more wheezy, generally, not just whilst exercising. I wear a smog mask more, especially when cycling. Staying in and avoiding exercise outside also helps me.
AQI levels of over 150 city wide would be considered major pollution incidents in the EU. When expats call other expats 'pussies' about such things, they forget how they would react back home.
I also know smokers who think that the negative effects of smoking are exaggerated. Like smoking the effects of pollution on the body are long term and cannot always be seen from the outside.
Someone said on here a while back that Kunming is better ban Beijing. Yes, and murder rates in Detroit are lower than murder rates in Baltimore, and so we should all move to Chicago.
All reds again today.
Check skyscanner.net, there are deals available on flights that are lower than CTrip, including KMG - CDG routes.

Great to know it is no longer dry.
Good review BTW
This has moved.
The cut flowers are about 700m east on Duonan Jie. The plants and trees are about 700 m west and follow Duocai Section.
A reasonable choice of lumber that has improved over time. Fancy hardwoods like walnut, and mahogany are in abundance. There are some plywood and rubber-wood boards available. There are also some kiln dried imported softwoods and merbao available. Some of the lumber is very green, so look for the kiln dried if you need stable timbers.
Echo everything said by others.
Breakfast great and the serve from 8am. Most other places say 9am and they still are not ready.
Sandwiches are cheap 22-32, and really packed full of filling. We got some sandwiches for a day out, the only mistake I made was ordering two, as this was too much. These are seriously good sangars, and they are wrapped in alu foil.
In fairness to Metro, they are a wholesalers, and not really a supermarket. Hence the need for a card, which can be got around.
They have improved in the year I have been away. They now carry a more consistent range of imported foodstuffs and they also seem to have sorted out the mported milk supply.
They have a wider range of electrical appliances now, there is a coice of more than one toast. There is also a better range of seasonal non foods, like clothes, shoes, garden furniture and camping gear.

Celebrating Chinese Dragon Boat Festival
Posted byI am pretty sure last years article was incorrect. I contacted GoKunming at the time.
Celebrating Chinese Dragon Boat Festival
Posted byFrom the article "...In Kunming, Dragon Boat Races used to be held during the holiday at the Yunnan Nationalities Village. " This seems unambiguous, but I think erroneous.
Celebrating Chinese Dragon Boat Festival
Posted byI am not sure that dragon boat events were ever held in the Minorities Village. This could be a hang over from erroneous remark in an article on dragon boat festivals a year or two ago.
The only dragon boat events I know of, in the last 10 years, were held on the northern half of Haigeng Dam (Daba). These now fall on the calendar of the international dragon boat racing events.
A friendly reminder from the Kunming Public Security Bureau
Posted byI guess Hainan might be a pilot scheme for licencing and taxing gambling and prostitution (speculation). If things are legalized, it can take them out of the hands of criminal enterprises.
