Forums > Food & Drink > 卤面- best way to have your noodles

They don't need to compare. Yunnan Noodles are here, and Xinjiang/Ningxia noodles are there. Also, since this is a focused post on 卤面 I think it is important to note the thread started by being critical of typical noodles in Yunnan. Any valid reviews or comments shold probably be made about 卤面 directly after trying them at a place that is regarded as making them especially well.

As I see you searched through the forums to be critical of 'Yunnan cuisine', I feel you, like BillDan, need to make comments that are less general and focus more on the main topic of each thread, I feel I can speak for the Gokunming community at-large as saying comments like, "How can noodles in yunnan compare to xinjiang/ningxia noodles. 0:10. "Kunming cuisine", awful," do very little to inform users, stimulate conversation, or even subjectively debate relevant topics.

Now I'm venting...Hope someone can try 卤面 and give some relevant criticism or praise.

Since the post had already died 9 days ago, I think BillDan was just scrolling down the forums looking for a chance to vent. Some choose yoga, some choose drugs...It seems as if Gokunming Forums is BillDan's vice.

The best quote about this I saw from some random 市民 in the news two nights ago.

"Because it's a foreigner I think it probably has something to do with art...If it was a Chinese person I'd think they must have some sort of mental problem."

classic.

After spending about three years in Kunming, I have had alot of good food, but for a long time I slowly became tired of having 米线,,and 盖饭 everyday for lunch....but one day a miracle occured and I discovered 卤面,(lu mian) which has almost certainly revolutionized my lunchtime eating habits. Roughly translated to 'soy braised noodles,' I found that this bowl of saucy, a bit sweet, a bit sour, and a bit spicy noodles was the perfect alternative to soup based noodley dishes that I had eaten for years before.

It seems as if most 老外 in Kunming haven't stumbled across this delicious treat, so I highly reccomend a seven kuai investment into trying these. I have been to about 20-25 places with 卤面 and have found the best can be found on 虹山东路(hongshan dong lu) right where the railroad tracks cross at this little restaurant with just a few tables sitting out on the street. If you have a chance, go there to try em first, so you know how they should be done right. Also, they go quite well with 木瓜水(mugua shui) or papaya water....which oddly doesn't have any papaya or water, but still tastes damn good. Hope everyone can enjoy

Awesome to see Yunnan being represented in the global music scene. Manhu is definitely a band worth checking out! I also love some of the bluegrass influences that come in on a few of the tracks! 加油

Alright, I guess I opened up this can of worms, and I would be wise to use some facts as opposed to some sensationalist character attacks and No, No, No's that seemed to follow my message. Furthermore, since I mentioned the name of someone I support as opposed to just bashing one without offering a solution. here we go.
1- 'Wall Street Pete,' being by far the poorest of all the individual candidates running is also has the third largest amount of individual donors at around 390,000. While this is far behind Bernie, it was only around 20,000 behind Warren as of late august. (www.nytimes.com/[...]

2- Buttigieg's campaign average contribution size to the campaign in Q3 was $32, and 98 percent of their donations were under $200. (www.newsweek.com/[...]
3- There is quite alot to be learned from what happened that put

Falling on the far left of the political spectrum and branding one as a 'Democratic Socialist' does based on what happened to put Johnson in power in the UK and I think a good editorial here supports this view www.nytimes.com/[...]

Whether it's Bernie, Warren, or really anyone but Biden they will have my support, and although I am someone who probably falls on the far left of the political line in the United States, I also recognize that the United States as a whole is not. I certainly agree that steps towards a higher level of social programs and support are needed in the US, but it needs to happen at a rate that the nation as a whole feels comfortable with, otherwise in the end, leftward leaning people are always gonna get walloped by the fact that 'Socialist' is still perceived as a dirty word in the US and there will be 4 more years of you know who. I'm not gonna bash Warren, Bernie, or even Klobuchar, I think they're cool. But pleas, jj123 and herenow, go ahead and make a pitch for the person you support instead of this trollish like fact-less attacks of the person I like.

Lost Garden's kitchen has became a Saratrical masterpiece! Great tea just the way it should be made, combined with tangy and titilating specialties from the south of the US, South of the border, and beyond! Rooftop is Kunmings top place to catch some rays and chill out with a book or some buddies and booze. Look forward to menu expansion and much love to the mastermind chef in the Kitchen!

After somewhat of an 'As You Like' hiatus, caused by work and life in general, I was lucky enough to find some time for a latte and a mushroom and cream calzone at lunch today. The place has continued to improve in both the categories of taste and general quality. Those who haven't been, I would say it is in your best interest to make an effort to find the place and if you are in the Wenlinjie/wenhuaxiang area, you'll discover its right under your nose. Great place to chill, relax, and get away from the traffic, noise, and distractions that Kunming brings your way.
