The bath tub guy now runs Beer Bug I think? It's a big system in a pub hidden inside an industrial estate just North of the zoo. Still very much bath tub beer though, including the soapy bathwater taste.
Uncle John's is the only microbrewery in town that's Chinese owned and run and making actual beer: www.gokunming.com/[...]
There's another Chinese owned place that's going to be opening soon called YunBrew, in the 108 factory district off of 缅甸大道.
The only other breweries in town are Humdinger and Valhalla, with foreigners doing the brewing.
I know a place where you can get what you're looking for. Unfortunately, it's probably the only place. Here are the directions:
Get to the East 2nd Ringroad and take HongQiao Lu East for about 30km until you get to the airport. Go up to the Air China or China Eastern ticket counter on the 3rd floor and buy a ticket to a place called "The United States of America" (美国). After about 20 17 hours of flying and a transfer in Shanghai or Beijing, you'll be there and can get yourself a decent steak.
I use www.cantoneseclass101.com/ although I find it's more geared to students who don't already know putonghua. Using the pdfs in combination with the podcasts at least helps you lean how the characters should be pronounced differently.
