In whole scheme of things i doubt many care if they are classified as expats. With all the problems around us seems like a rather trivial concern.

@Geezer, Man you really know how to strike the final blow to a man when he is already down. In all seriousness i knew the chairman of the Kennedy commission which investigated the JFK files when they were unsealed and he told us JFK was dead. Also said their was nothing in files that would substantiate any of the conspiracy theories. Being a US Federal Judge he of course leaned heavily towards the facts that the files revealed. Sorry i think i have helped us get very far off the topic of this forum. Could not help myself however. hehe
@Liumingke1234, My biggest reason for leaving would be if things get unfriendly towards foreigners or if something happened and my family needed me in usa.
@AlexKMG, Man did you ruin my day, now i do not know what to believe in anymore. haha By the way when are they going to bring JFK back from the island Jackie and Onassis hid him on.
I am fully retired here which should be of little interest to anyone but myself, and my decision in the future as to whether i stay here will be one between my wife and i. I care little about the opinion of a certain un-named person. Kunming and china is the right place for us now, but things can change and in the future we will keep our options open. Do i still love the usa absolutely and as long as i have parents, children and grandchildren there i will spend an extended period of time visiting them every year.

Great western dinner at a reasonable price. The salad bar is a wonderful bonus if you order a dinner meal. I like to get their early just after 5, then salad bar is especially fresh and full of all the selections. Staff are my favorite in Kunming. They are friendly and attentive, but not over bearing. Give you menu and then give you time to make a selection.
Recently i wrote a review that after eating beef burritos at Salvadors i ended up with a bad stomach ache and the last time a case of severe diarrhea. It was commented later that maybe the sour cream was a factor, and that may be true. My only dairy is milk in my coffee and i have noticed i sometimes end up with a stomach ache after drinking 2-3 cups in the morning. I make my own sour cream for tacos i make at home and will have to pay more attention to how that affects me in the future.
Metro has many things i cannot find other places, but i still find it a frustrating place to shop sometimes. Seem to frequently be out of things. For example their was very little fresh meat to choose from and actually they were out of many things and i was their just after lunch. They had no loaves of toasting bread and could not tell my wife when they would be getting more in. In looking at the fresh date on Hormel ham it had expired in September. However for first time i was able to shop all the aisles. Not filled with merchandise to be stocked or fork lifts.
To all those expecting an authentic Irish Pub come on we are after all living in China. I have eaten there several times and the burger is still the best in Kunming in my opinion. Staff is friendly and attentive to your needs. Place is not perfect but what is in CHina. Owners have been wonderful in opening up early for special events like the US Super Bowl.
Went for Pizza special tonight. Had the Barbeque chicken and it was very good. Also enjoyed an exceptionally large order of French Fries. Everything was good tonight and owners where not there.

Kunming to put 45,000 public use bikes on roads
Posted byPeter, think program is far from breaking down, i see hundreds of these bikes being ridden everyday. My understanding is the companies have purchased so many of these bikes that the cost is very low, so i am sure they have build in a good size damage and loss ratio for the idiots that choose to not follow the rules or damage the bikes. From what i can see the bigger problem bigger than the damage to bikes is the ones being hidden and locked up for the owners personal use.
