To The truth ;
And i think you maybe came on a bad day because i had a quiche last month, their were really good ! Maybe, bad luck for you this time.
"William15" said that managers are not here, i don't really know them, so can't say anything about that thing. I saw once the new? or temporary? manager, seems to be ok, nice guy !

But i work with chinese folks, and i understand that if you are not constantly behind their ass, they will just do shit. Don't be too harsh with these managers.
For the food, i agree with "hazelnut". Most of the menu is not avaible, but that's happen everywhere, and so probably where you live (XiAn?).
Pizzas and quiches are ok. Salads and pasta are average.
I tried recently an ice-cream, ok but not well prepared.
Pancakes were good but a bit thin.
I saw many people complaining about the beer selection : it's true that they don't have a lot, but they are cheaper than many other cafes & bars :)
Finally for the games : it's definitely the best place for games !
So 2 stars for the games, and only 1 for the food !

Went there to try last week,

Why only one star !?!

- The waiters were not nice, lazy (one was sleeping on the bar !!), constantly playing with their cell-phones instead of helping us, also the smoke we got in our face came from them !

Small place = maybe the fuwuyuan shouldn't add more smoke :(

- Food :

We ask for pancake : NO

for Lasagna : NO

For fries : NO (terrible for someone who comes from belgium like me !!)

for some pasta : NO

- or they said yes, but without cheese and no beef !

For quiches : NO

So we ask if the manager could just tell us if they HAVE food ?!?

..No manager, only waiters who do not speak english.

...so they said that they only have pizzas ...

Ok For Pizza : ah !! finally !!

I got mine pretty fast ;

But unfortunetly we finished our game when my friend got his pizza !

The cheese pizza was good :)

The ham pizza was average because only stuffed in the middle.

- Game :

Games are good, it's why i give at least one star.

However, and sorry but waiters without english couldn't help us to learn a game. And actually, i figured it out that they dont know how to play a big third of their games :(

I'm a tourist, only few days in kunming so i dont care, but i wont recommend the place for food !

Otherwise, a game cafe is a good idea.

To finish with something positif, i would say that the main problem is the kitchen logistic and it's organization, and definitely someone in a shop to manage the waiters !

No manager on week-ends days, it shows a certain lack of serious :(

i'll try again if i come back in kunming (i live in XiAn)...

...and by that time, i hope this Gamebar will solve his employees problems (Where is the Manager !?!)

"Toto" -Vive la belgique unie !!!-

I first went to the Game Cafe for the games, didn't really choose it for food. As far as games go, it's awesome, great selection. I was a little put off by the fact you paid for your time playing, the concept seemed alien to me at first, but it makes sense now, and it's cheap for students anyway.

As for the food i quite like it. I've tried the lasagna, which was ok, not a massive lasagna fan though. I really like their pizza, and they've got some spicy oil thing you can add to it, although recently they keep forgetting to ask if i want it :-(

The service is pretty slow, but the staff are friendly, and i haven't really found and anywhere in China except McDonalds and KFC's which is quick at getting your food out.

Overall i'm pretty happy with it's main service, games, and i find it's menu a nice alternative from the other cafes on the street.

I love the general idea of game cafe, their selection of boardgames is pretty big and sitting outside on the terrace with a couple of friends and playing is really fun. an hour of playing is 6kuai per person, there is a student discount available which makes it 3kuai. and thats where i knock off my first star. the student disount is not available during holidays, festivals, fridays and saturdays.thats at least what the english part of the menu says. yesterday was a sunday. we didnt get the discount (a week ago we did). obviously the chinese part of the menu also includes sunday as a no-discount day. its not about 3 kuai, but it kind of pissed me off to argue with the fuwuyuan about which price list (chinese or english) to stick to. seriously, if you make a mistake on your menu you have two options: change the english part on the menu or give the discount. but dont make the customer think he gets a discount if he actually doesnt.

food is ok, but pretty slow service (which doesnt really bother you, when you are playing, but might if you are not). thats where the second star went.

i joined friends here on the weekend. they were getting food and playing a game. the pizzas looked great, but my friends advised me to avoid them, saying they tasted bland.

having made a selection, it took 20 minutes for the staff to tell me that my choice was no longer available. as my friends had nearly finished their game, we then all took our business elsewhere.

helpful advice:

- if someone arrives, give them a menu

- sort out the beer selection

- if i speak to you in Chinese, speak back to me in Chinese
