Why would somebody make up that they had coffee with you? Do you think he's setting up a trap? Ha ha.

I see the "regular" and "old timer" posters here as the equivalent of an inbred, redneck, hillbilly family in the mountains of Kentucky or West Virginia, who sit around in a self-satisfied manner, compliment themselves, and talk about "them rascally city slickers and they's fancy book learnin'" in twangy accents, between bouts of excessive moonshine drinking and banjo playing.

This thread also provides a long list of people who one should never reply to - Just ignore.

You being the 'city slicker'?

It's good to hear from foreigners who've lived here a while even if they do have different opinions which can sometimes seem... Well different.

Surely a 'city slicker' would think that ;o).

Real GK Meetup - Rules of engagement:

1 - One person must bring a laptop so each person in attendance can make a comment on the GK forum so we can all verify that persons identity?

2 - Integrity required - Promise to not reveal anything said at this meeting to anyone, especially other forum members.

3 - Time and place of meeting will be decided after we have 5 or more people and will be disclosed via PM.

Aren't rules 1 and 2 contradictory? If integrity is required and assumed, then why would the laptop be necessary to prove the person's identity? So if someone showed up and claimed to be Napoleon, you wouldn't trust them. That's lovely.

And you've already expressed mistrust with Michael.

Sorry, but you're off to a bad start.

And anyway, it takes years to develop trust with people. This silly meeting is just that, at best. If not something with some twisted hidden agenda.
