Dawei15, I applaud your honesty in making a statement most others would not.
Are you really Gaoxing?

Yes, I miss Kunming but I'm in a tough situation.
I have a decent paid job now and I've had it for close to 3 yrs. If I quit, I will go back to unemployed mode and my value will be zero. However, I would hate to wake up 40 yrs from now and say to myself, could I have made something of myself in China. Could I have started a business? Could I have had lots of dates with sexy Chinese ladies? Could I have created some type of product?
Life is like playing the lottery. Everyone hopes for the winning ticket but more often than not, we are stuck with nothing...
Go to China town and meet a Chinese woman. You don't have to be here. Hang out in China town, make some Chinese friends, etc.
"Life is like a lottery..."
I prefer another analogy. Life is like a hand of cards. Some people are dealt better hands, but how we play the cards we are dealt is up to us.
If you are in a decent paid job, and you quit, you will be throwing away a good hand. Remember that the grass is always greener on the other side. As you have said yourself, you could easily come here and achieve even less.
One really great way to come to China is to look for ways to find jobs with US companies that will send you to China. This may require you to think two or three jobs ahead. These jobs still exist.
If you have a dream, follow it. If you fail, at least you tried. If you don't then you will forever wonder: What if?
Since you are already striking out being yet another foreign English teacher, avoiding them, as well as fellow Laowai Losers would be a start. Because you are honest with stating what you are, you won't be able to fit with them and/or grow. Instead, start building your list of Chinese contacts or some of the few non-loser laowais that exist in China to assist you in achieving your goal.
yankee00, let me guess, you do not place yourself in the "lower laowai" group, right?
Caveatipse/laowei74/tomman/MM/latataille, let's discuss more productive things, like giving suggestions to that honest man.
yankee00, well, your suggestion that most foreigners in China are loser laowais is a bit provocative, don't you think?
Why don't you make us an impression of Jessi Slaughter, instead?
