Ripples Across Stagnant Water is Chongqing Ballet's second work supported the by China National Arts Fund after the Pursuit of Shangri-La, as well as their second large-scale original ballet. The play is adapted from Li Jieren's novel. It tells a complex story about a young lady "Deng Yaogu" pursuing her love in Tianhui Town, Sichuan Province in the last century. In the process, an age of rapid change is portrayed to some degree.
