Voting is now officially underway for the tenth annual Best of Kunming Awards. Beginning today and running through midnight December 31, readers can choose their favorite Kunming businesses and establishments here on the website. A separate group of categories in Chinese will be made available soon through GoKunming's WeChat official account.

The nominations are in following a one-week nomination process across our 12 website categories. Thank you to everyone who took the time to fill out our survey and submit the names of their favorite places! This year, each group contains eight nominees, a list that automatically includes last year's winners. We've also added two new categories, 'Best Gym' and 'Best Spa'.

How to vote

Voting for 2016-2017 is open to all registered GoKunming users. Simply log in and then place your votes here, or follow the links below. If you do not yet have a GoKunming account, you can sign up by registering here. Each person is allowed only one ballot, so make sure your form is fully filled out before submitting it.

How to win this year's voting prizes

As with last year, we are offering the chance to win one of several prizes for all who vote on the website using a verified GoKunming account. Prizes include a pair of VIP tickets to a performance of Yunnan legend Yang Liping's Dynamic Yunnan (value: 960 yuan/pair), a free golf lesson from professional instructor Jason Hoyles at Golf Academy China (valued at 850 yuan), a case of international award-winning Black Yak Beer from Shangri-la Brewery, and a case of the company's Yalaso beer (both valued at 492 yuan).

If you would like to become eligible to win, be sure to log in, cast your ballot in all categories and enter your current phone number in the proper field. A random drawing will be held January 1 and the winners will be notified by Friday, January 13. Good luck!

Voting results will be announced on the website the second week in January, following the fourth annual Best of Kunming Awards Ceremony. The evening will feature a show recognizing the winners in each category, speeches by award recipients, live music and a humongous lucky draw for attendees. More details are coming soon!
