Thanks! Should be a lot of participation. The previous half marathon was quite the success. Nice to see so many runners.

Breaking news. Apple removes VPN Apps from China App Store.
Apple is siding with profits over ______. China is one of their biggest markets after all. AAPL stocks would tank if they disobeyed calls to censorship.
Looks like the Great Firewall is being refortified. The war on VPNs has begun.
Right now trending on Chinese social media in Kunming circles, locals are angry with the drowning of mother and child. They are angry that the civilized project has cost tax payers RMB 30 Billion yet their government can't even prevent streets from flooding because of subpar infrastructure.
If we want to be honest with each other. The "civilized" money could be better spent on drainage/sewage revamp. Kunming has been flooding for decades... and certainly susceptible to more flooding in the future.
Supposedly 北区 Northern Kunming has been flooded to the windshields of cars, as well as many parking basements in the city... today or tomorrow would be a disaster for the anticipated Beijing inspections.

Update: Kunming Metro Line 3 open as of August 29
Posted byExciting times in Kunming. Line 3 is about to start very soon, probably next month. Don't mind them taking time for safety precautions.
Line 5 "交三桥" station near Cuihu Lake has already begun construction with visible crane by 中铁十八局. There is another "交三桥" station with the exact name on Line 2 (adjacent to the East on the KRT map), which is kind of confusing.

For said morning birds, get the Kunming Zoo (Yuantong Hill) annual pass for just a little over 100RMB, and enjoy peaceful morning walks or jogging (w/ changing elevations) before 7am.
Up to 1,000 Dali businesses to close in face of new policy
Posted byI hear lots of locals in Dali are suffering from the mass shortage of tourists, not just the foreigner-run guest houses around the lake. Short-term sacrifice for long-term sustainability I suppose. Hang in there Dali.
