Forums > Living in Kunming > Leaving Kunming? After living in China for 6 years decided was time to begin moving back to USA. Realized i was never going to be able to communicate easily. Have age related health issues, which minor now, could be much larger problem in future, with many treatment options in USA and none here.
Forums > Food & Drink > Price and salary development Seems like commercial rentals have not come down or even increased the past 5 years, but personally having lived outside the 2nd ring road my rent the past year was less than 5 years ago. Home i rented 5 years ago was 3,500 rmb and i rented this past year for 2,500.
Forums > Living in Kunming > Dry and High Kunming One of the most painful and long term side affects of dehydration missed by Long-Dragon can be Kidney Stones. Denver has the highest rate of kidney stones in the USA, and i was told 5 years ago while being treated for a kidney stone in a Kunming hospital, that Kunming is the highest in China. Doctor told me Kunming has a higher rate because of dry climate part of year and elevation. If you have never had a kidney stone, for sure an experience to avoid. Lastly the 5 years i lived in Kunming i found to be the most challenging to stay hydrated. Did not seem to matter how much i drank i still always was on the edge of being de-hydrated. I am living in a climate which has higher temps and very humid but having a much easier time staying hydrated.

Forums > Living in Kunming > Am I really in a place that bad? I think 1 year was the most common 5-6 years ago, but as they have built massive complexes everywhere in Kunming, has forced landlords to negotiate rents and payment terms. Last 2 rentals i had we paid 6 months at a time. Before that 1 year and was not a topic for discussion.

Posted bySaw 2 Mobikes on the bottom of the Panlong river today. Were thrown off the bridge by the Waterfalls park. Had the bright orange rims. People are already dumping them in the middle of the sidewalks.

Around Town: Kunming Waterfall Park
Posted byIf you like walking, best way to get to falls is just walking on very nice new parkway along the Panlong River. Just do not go on weekends or holidays. Also i went one evening for a walk thinking the falls would have lighting and it was dark. Sign 2 weeks ago gave hours for viewing falls from 9-5.

Posted byJust wonder what types of pollution are hidden in the lake bed which might be dragged to other parts of Yunnan. Hopefully are not going to compound the problems.

Posted byI find the average of 35 to be an amazing figure. I do not think in all the times i have checked the readings for Kunming i ever saw a reading close to that low let alone to be the average.
