Anyone have any experience with either of two tailor shops on Jian She Lu, near Shi Fan Da Xue? One has a sign which says, in Pin Yin, Yuan Ye Zhi Yi. The other, a few steps up-hill, has Sichuan Fashion Tailors on their sign. I'd like to get some shirts and pants made.
There are shuttle buses, like 212, which go to the Luosiwan Shopping center. There is an elevated train in Cheng Gong but I don't know how many places it goes to. Not much public transportation otherwise. Students at the universities complain bitterly about how boring Cheng Gong is, and university faculty resist moving there vigourously. Most Cheng Gong campuses have to provide shuttle buses to bring their faculty to work.
Does anyone know any good tailors in the area around Yunnan U., Normal U., the Science and Technology U., the Finance U.? I used to employ a woman with a shop near Paul's Shop, Wen Hua Xiang, but she's gone now.

I've stayed here many times over the years and been very satisfied. Central location, comfortable rooms, reasonable prices. Some might mind the noise from the Bad Monkey Bar across the street, but I've always been able to sleep. The staff is very helpful with bus tickets, excursion tickets and the like.
Does anyone know if this is still a going concern? Or destroyed by the fire?
One of my favorite places in Jing Hong! It's my landmark, the center of the hotel, restaurant, bike, etc., area. I discovered dark Beer Lao there!
But getting to the S. bus station takes another hour....

Kunmingers increasingly concerned about environment
