Can anyone tell me if an ATM from Construction Bank, Agricultural Bank, Bank of China or Post Office Bank can be used to withdraw money in Hong Kong? In Laos? In Thailand? In Vietnam?
There are lots of rumors and lots of statements of what "ought" to be, but can anyone tell me if they have actually been able to use their Chinese bank account on a visit to one of the neighboring countries?
Anyone try the Bade Hanse restaurant among the shops and restaurants next to The Hump Hostel? At first glance, it looks like German- Brazilian restaurants I've seen elsewhere in China. Does it have home-brewed beer with the roast meat?
I want to visit both Jing Hong and Mangshi (aka Luxi). I know there is a direct bus from KM to JH. Is there a direct bus from KM to Mangshi? Is there a bus connection between Jing Hong and Mangshi?
I had a good experience, a couple years ago, with the dental hospital ("Stomatology Hospital) at the Kunming Medical School on Renmin Lu. They have some English speaking dentists. I forget the price, but a couple thousand rmb for a complete crown, of gold covered with porcelain. No pressure to get the most expensive option.
Bus #84 from the northern city bus terminal, bei shi qu chi che chang (公交北市区车场), will take you from the north side to the Yun Da area. There are 3-4 stops along yi er yi street that might suit you. It ends at the downtown pedestrian mall.
So how do I find this museum? The link is not very helpful. I gather it is in the Xi Shan district, but does anyone know a bus that goes to the museum?
I like the vendors. They are useful to me. They need the money, too. If I wanted to buy everything from a few monopoly corporations, I'd've stayed in the US.
I've stayed here many times over the years and been very satisfied. Central location, comfortable rooms, reasonable prices. Some might mind the noise from the Bad Monkey Bar across the street, but I've always been able to sleep. The staff is very helpful with bus tickets, excursion tickets and the like.

I'd love to buy jianbing or baozi as I walk to early class. I'd put my money in their pockets willingly.
I've bought food from one woman vendor for ten years now, and somehow the sky has not fallen.
