Does anyone have any experience with Kunming Siya Consultative Services Co., which is offering TESOL classes in Kunming? Apparently they are connected with ACT Chiang Mai and Cornerstone University in Michigan. They have been advertising in Kunming Swap and perhaps other places.
Now that Acadia Tesol has disappeared, is there an alternative in Kunming? I want classroom instruction, not on-line, if possible.
Now that Acadia Tesol has disappeared, is there another, accredited, school for a TESOL certificate? I have university degrees and teaching experience, but I would like to work for the British Council giving IELTS tests. I'm pretty sure they don't accept on-line instruction. Is there classroom instruction available in Kunming or some place not too far away in SW China?
Thanks.
Can one still take a boat from Jing Hong to Viantiane in Laos? If so, where do I get my Lao visa? In KM? Or when the boat crosses the border? Or in V., when the boat arrives?
Thanks in advance.

I've stayed here many times over the years and been very satisfied. Central location, comfortable rooms, reasonable prices. Some might mind the noise from the Bad Monkey Bar across the street, but I've always been able to sleep. The staff is very helpful with bus tickets, excursion tickets and the like.
Does anyone know if this is still a going concern? Or destroyed by the fire?
One of my favorite places in Jing Hong! It's my landmark, the center of the hotel, restaurant, bike, etc., area. I discovered dark Beer Lao there!
But getting to the S. bus station takes another hour....

There are far fewer small markets than there used to be.

I'd love to buy jianbing or baozi as I walk to early class. I'd put my money in their pockets willingly.
I've bought food from one woman vendor for ten years now, and somehow the sky has not fallen.
