Also new to kunming, i think this's a city that makes you keep extending a plan to stay. Many of my friends have a job here or try (pretend) to learn Chinese, but it seems to me that they never have to work. It's all about relaxation and popular topic is where to eat and drink. The cost of living here is cheap enough to take a big rest with limited saving.
After staying here for a month, I've a growing doubt on Kunmingese income per capita. This is, by statistics, not a wealthy city but the standard of living seems to outpace many cities in China.
It's very common to hear a complaint about kunming. Almost all my friends have their creativity on it. Some observations may be true, some are due to home sick, some are just a personal story, but they've still chosen to stay here. My reason is simple: I like its lifestyle and reasonable cost of taking a big leisure.
Hope this measure will boost the speed of connection at salvador's. It's pretty surprised to me that salvador's hasn't encrypted the wifi connection. No matter it's at noon or night, it's very very slow, so i guess someone around the shop steals the internet.
Along a river called "Jin1 zhi1 he2", there's a new bar offering shisha. Not sure if that's the one Chris mentioned but the price is similar.
as far as i remember wifi can't be installed without authorization but how do they check if you have a wifi router? How can we prevent it?
