Is there any good brand of condoms available in Kunming? I've read that even trusted brands like Durex can be fake in China. So any advice on where I can buy safe condoms and what brand should I choose?

order japanese brands (tend to be smaller so get xxl,but WAY safer), do not buy chinese condoms or use them.

^ I'm not sure, i dont buy through Carrefour. Just dont trust any condoms made in China, Chinese rarely if ever get tested for STD's and will lie through their teeth about it.

What is a fake codom? How can you tell a real condom from a fake?

even if they are genuine/western brands they are smaller than the European equivalent so check that before you purchase. Taobao might be worth a try but again buying the real thing might not be simple. Get someone to bring them from home for you or stock up on your next trip!

When I needed them I stocked up on trips to Hong Kong. Tried the local varieties of international brands, but they most certainly were not like the genuine product (durex) in size or quality. This mirrors what others are saying also...

Just like body care products and even toothpaste, try to avoid foreign brands that are made for the Chinese mainland market. They are definitely not of the same quality, even if genuine. Condoms here are smaller and break easily, even those sold at Carrefour or Metro. If you can, order on websites like Amazon and eBay. The foreign ones. You'll get less chances of getting fake ones. Many sellers deliver in China
