Loopholes like the one in the Carrbean have largley been closed. Most countries have laws about copyright and cyber squatting. China is one of the few that doesn't.

This is exactly my point. Most people have become voluntary participants in globalism and the evils that come with it. Canada, the USA, China and the other 190 something countries are all different. But now most people accept that we should all march to the tune of one drum. This is the great danger. The laws of one country no longer belong to one country but to the entire world. People and even countries have lost their rights and individuality. The US believes the rich should get every penny they can and they will turn over every rock to catch someone stealing their IP. So the entire world must have this same mentality if they are allowed in the WTO. Can not download movies or music because the rich will lose profits.
I see people concerned with this topic and willing to go an extra mile to snitch on others to protect the Company. But I see very few people willing to stand up and fight against the abuses of the company. I think the people, the individual, need more advocates, not the corporations. But go ahead, every person has the right to do as they please.
Remember when water was clean and free from the tap, not bottled. Remember when TV was free, not cable. Now we must pay the Man to unblock the Free signal in the airwaves so we can watch a movie. Remember when infants did not have to get Hep B vaccines at birth. Hep B is a sexually transmitted disease. I dont think infants will be having sex at birth so why is it needed. I had the chicken pox when I was a child along with others and it did not kill me. Kids with the slightest behavior problems are forced to take ritalin and other drugs. We are no longer free.
What do you hope to gain by ratting on some two bit company for using the CBC logo? We have so many serious problems in Canada already, and this is the best you can come up with? Don't tell me you love Rogers and Bell Canada too...
@HFCAMPO, i agree with many of the things you say especially when it comes to rich corporations taking advantage of people in the world, but you lose me totally when you get off base sometimes so badly. First off i never use bottle water in usa, i always drink right from the tap, regarding tv i grew up when we had 2 television stations that went off the air at 11pm, i choose to have cable or satelitte television but when i do not want to pay extra i have over 50 stations available. What has chicken pox got to do with anything, i to had chicken pox and they do not vaccinate for that. Where you are most off base and very ill informed is regarding those so called slightest behavior problems. I and my 3 sons all suffered from ADHD while in school, and i for sure have greatly suffered from adult ADD. I and my kids were never forced to take ritalin, but i can tell you i would not be here today if not for the relief ritalin allowed me along with zoloft which gave me the relief from the depression that the ADD had caused my entire life. Are they misused sometimes, yes of course, but do not condemn me to a life of hell because of a few misguided peoples deeds. Hell after reading some of your rants maybe some of these drugs could benefit you. Sorry could not help myself did not take my drugs this morning.
@HfCAMPO, you really should do some research sometimes before you rant about certain topics. If you would use Wikipedia once and a while you would find that HEPB can be spread in ways beside sexually. The reason children are vaccinated in some areas of the world is most of the mothers are carrying the HEP B virus and they will pass the virus to their newborn. Vaccinating the newborn cuts the chance of contracting HEP B by up to 90%.
@tallamerican
I think the rise in ADD and other behavioral diseases is fishy to me. I'm over 50 and never has America been so hook on drugs both legal and illegal than now. Medicine is necessary but I think that we have become too dependent on them. Now for everything the doctors say: "Take these. This will make you feel better". What starts to happen is you become 'hook' and psychologically you feel you can live without the meds. There is something really wrong with our society and everyone has to deal with it the best they can. There's nothing wrong with taking medicines for what ails you but I think we jump to quickly in taking them. Why not research natural herbal remedies? Big Pharma puts out so many meds. without really knowing the full extent of the side effects. Not that they care because even the fines they get when caught is pennies compare to what they profit. On a personal note, I'd rather have a person who is ADD or ODD on meds than off them if it's working for them. I make no judgement for those who have it. I think that I rant or discuss these issue because it's therapeutic even though each one of us will do as we believe and please. I know it's not all gloom and doom though at times it feels like it is. So keep on smiling and laughing. :-).
@Liumingke1234, I agree sometimes the drugs can be miss used, but i fought to not use the drugs for a long time, and the 2nd or 3rd time i was making plans to kill myself i sought out help on my own. The drugs allowed me to relax for the first time and somehow everything was not such a struggle anymore. I quit using the ritalin 8 years ago and 2 years ago quit taking the anti-depressant. I was lucky i only needed to take small dosages of either drug. I share this information because the more people are willing to openly talk about depression the better chance that someone who is suffering will get help and the stigma is slowly eliminated. I am sorry my posts have been really off the topic.
Without copyright protection/patents/etc. we would not have the level of development we all enjoy.
One good reason given for the lack of creativity and innovation in China, by a Chinese inventor, was that you spend many hours and a lot of money developing something, and then someone else just copies it, and so you don't make that mistake again.
It must be heartbreaking when this happens.
There is a small shopping ap. used a lot on taobao. The Chinese guy who developed it earned nothing, as the idea was copied. Last time I heard he was working as a manager in an internet bar and writing malware/adware, as people will pay for malware.
If it were not for patents, would Edison, Watt, and others have bothered, and if so, to the same extent? Or would they just have got a day job as a teacher, or artisan?
I doubt if we would have computers.
@tigertiger
So true. People need incentive.
IP theft is the same as plagiarism, I hope nobody thinks that is OK.
But worse because at the bottom end of the scale you are stealing someone else's livelihood.
