Hi all! I am moving from Korea to China in a couple months and I wish to send some of my personal items ahead of time. Mostly clothes, soaps, sewing machine, bedding. What method is best to send and what should I expect in import and duty fees? Nothing is new. Do I have to be in the country by time it arrives or can it arrive at my place of work before i arrive?
My opinion is that, for smaller things like that, the best thing is to use a local shipping company (and by local, I mean in Korea). There will, I believe, be no duties. And yes, your place of work can sign for it, no problem.
I am going to have to declare a value for my packages. Some countries allow packages to go tax/fee free so long as its value is under a certain amount of money. Does china have a system like that so i should be careful to mark the value below a certain amount????
Just put a very small amount... like 100 yuan or 18000 won. You won't have to pay any additional fees. Are you getting the packages insured?
the package will be heavy so i am sure they would be suspicious of 18,000 won. Value would be more reasonable around 80,000 won. i will likely get tracking and insurance.
They dont care what you put for the value. It is only necessary if you are buying insurance.
Looks like you can't decide where to move to!
