Trying to start a coffee morning or breakfast club, maybe lunch, or afternoon tea in the south. This will be aimed at expats wanting to share a bit of face time, experiences, and local knowledge with each other.
OK so far it looks like there are five people, including myself, interested in getting together. I am sure more will pop in once word gets around.
A coffee shop seems to be a suitable option.
Possible venues include NanYa Mall, Agean Mall, or Wicker Basket (south). Mornings or afternoons work, evenings run into traffic (and parking at Nanya) and family time but are still possible. A lot will depend on convenience.
The aim is just to get together and enjoy a coffee/tea/donut, chat and maybe make some new friends. This will be very informal, not a club.
Please feel free to chip in to this conversation, or PM me.
Let me know what days/times/venues work or don't work. We all need to try and be flexible on this one.
I'd prefer a morning style one with a coffee & snack myself to start my day :) Aegean or wicker basket good for me but like you say flexible to other opinions....
Lets see the general consensus :)
As long as it's not on Saturday mornings I think I'll be able to stop by :)
@tigertiger As a non-expat in the south, am I welcomed? :-) If so, my preference is afternoon tea, and parking is my only concern.
I wish you luck with this but I really don't see why it is necessary - there are expat hangouts all over the place, where people talk about everything under the sun, especially in the evenings.
Well name some casual one to go in this area :)
Not one with any specific purpose either, just somewhere where's good to go chill for a little while every now and then.
lets keep it simple, meet at Starbucks at Nanya Mall on Saturday mornings, 9:00 am. I will be there, hope to see you! Look for the handsome bald foreigner...
@redjon: Salvador's, French Cafe on Wenlinjie, Wicker Basket N (Beichen), Wicker Basket W (near Qunyuan Xiaoqu but across the 2nd ring road), Brooklyn Pizza, Cantina. The last 2 don't open until about 11AM and Brooklyn is closed on Wednesdays. Note that Wicker Basket has primarily, but not exclusively, a US Protestant Christian crowd.
Alien has missed the point (as usual). This whole thread is about THE SOUTH of the city. None of the places he mentions are in the south. He can't resist giving his 2 cents.
