TCG Nordica will hold its Ninth Annual International Christmas Fair this weekend. Once again the art space at Nordica will be filled with the sights, sounds, smells and flavors of Christmas. Last year over 1,000 people dropped by for a taste of the holidays.
This year's Christmas Fair is planned to provide a unique, community-centered market experience. Forty different local individuals and organizations will have their goods available for purchase. Handmade items from local expats as well as minority handicrafts will be on display. Canaan Day Spa is providing free head and shoulder massages for anyone in need of a break from all the shopping and merriment.
Food will once-again be a big part of the fair. Nordica is offering a menu of traditional Swedish Christmas items and Cacao will be serving its signature Mexican fare. In addition to the grub, specialty coffee drinks will be served up by Hani Coffee and Swedish Glögg (mulled wine) will be available for adults.
The fair will also have several live musical performances and will stage a traditional Scandinavian performance entitled Lucia Friday at 6:30pm and Saturday at 3pm.
There will also be plenty of activities for children with a room available where kids can build their own tree ornaments, have their faces painted and have fun making other arts and crafts. A movie room for toddlers will also be provided.
Last year, the Christmas Fair raised more than 10,000 yuan to help a local center provide education and hot meals to the children of migrant workers. This year Nordica is proud to be raising money for The Source, a Kunming-based organization that has been helping people overcome heroin addiction for the last ten years.
All proceeds from door fees will be donated to charity, as well as a percentage from all vendors' sales. Sandra will have a table filled with sweets and goodies and donate all sales to Li Ping.
The International Christmas Fair runs from Friday, December 7, 5-9pm and Saturday, December 8th, 10am to 6pm. The entrance fee is two yuan and all are welcome. For more details, visit Nordica's website.

Hey guys, look forward to seeing you all at the fair! If anyone out there would like to play some Christmas music (any style) at the fair we have a few times open and would love to have you. It's a volunteer gig but all for a good cause. Give me a call if you are interested... Thanks, Roger - 18669081974
Congratulations to Birgit, Joe, Randall and Sean for correctly answering the trivial question! Germany is credited with starting the Christmas tree tradition. Happy holidays.
It was a good event again this year, but due to the crowding, it becomes a less and less suitable venue every year, which sadly detracts from the whole thing. In future please rent a larger venue for it, and the fair will be even more enjoyable.
