American fugitive and environmental activist sentenced to prison in Dali
Posted byShould be lined up and face the same justice as those other purveyors of misery, like bar owners, old ladies selling cigarettes, and embroidery shop assistants.

Asshole should've just been sentenced for 20 years in a Chinese prison cell then directly deport his ass back inside California's San Quentin Correctional Facility and sentence him to another 40 years.
He looks Aryan to me.

Posted byHe should have gotten a firing squad sentence like everyone else in China who deals drugs of that amount. Why waste money on a prison cell. What a disgrace to Americans.

Interview: Zhang Yifang on UFOs and aliens in China
Posted byThis is the problem, even on a petty forum people resort to fighting and harrassment. We can play the blame game, but at the end of the day humans are a horrible species who given the chance will prove it time and time again. We are our own worst enemy. And the sad truth is we probably won't even make it to see if there really is ET life. Because will will have wiped ourselves out and every other beautiful creation on this earth. We have been given the gift of knowledge. And I believe it is our obligation to use it to protect and preserve every living organism on the planet. And further develope our own future into a positive one. Because we are all the same regardless of race, religion, sex we are all the same species. We need to stop all this evil in the world and just work together. Or I fear it will be our undoing. And for the record I also believe that there is life out there. And they may or may no have the technology for interstellar travel but it's really irellevant. If you want proof life can excist in the univers! Then take a look around. We are the proof.

Recipe: Yunnan pumpkin and potato soup
Posted byI love this soup!! I experienced a flashback when I saw it. Can orange pumpkin really be a substitute? I remember the texture being so distinctive. Where can I find one... :(
Recipe: Eggplant cooked in red sauce
Posted byThese recipes are the only ones I have ever seen that truly remind me of eating in local restaurants in Kunming. Looking at them has made me feel sad, hungry, and motivated!
Some things I'd like to know include: how do you make yancai? They don't sell it here.
How do you make the basic mixian you can eat on the street for breakfast? What do you do if you don't have the fat noodles?
Remind me of what's on for BBQ late at night near the universities. I especially want to know how they make that grilled sweet red pepper dish!

Posted byDidn't you read what Danmairen just wrote?
"Expensive, polluting, dangerous, crashes (not the dangerous kind but the fender bender kind you see all the time), gasoline prices, theft risk, parking lot price, parking fees, lack of parking space, carvalue plummet, not to mention the traffic jams happening everywhere."
If you call that convenience then I would be interested to know what you would consider to be an inconvenience...
In an urban area with good public transportation it doesn't seem very sensible to have a car.

Obviously simple as the 100's of millions of people in the world have discovered;
CONVENIENCE
Kunming adding 900 vehicles to its roads daily
Posted byI honestly don't get why it seems to be so important for people to have a car. I assume there is some face and a little showoff-iness in it around here, but then again isn't there everywhere? Whenever my gf hints of the idea of buying a car I always say that if she can find more good reasons to do it than I can NOT to I'll go ahead and buy one. It's not even close.

Oh,, not to forget that you can take a taxi to and from work the 15-20 times a month you need to and it will still be much cheaper than buying a car and paying what is needed to keep it running.

Posted byNorman, I'm interested to know where exactly Tim called Chinese people "stupid"
It seems pretty clear to me that he is referring to humanity in general.
Also, I would be interested to hear more about your theory of positive feelings and its relationship to reduction in air pollution.
I think it's pretty clear that some people around here are indeed as stupid as he fears....
