There is a place right across from Black Dragon Pool where you can buy a baby pig or goat and they will BBQ it for you. They need about 4-5 hours to prepare. Best to go and set up the BBQ and then go hang out in Black Dragon Pool until its done. Go at 8am and begin to cook and come back at 1 pm. Good for 10-15 people.

Today I went to ride the subway from the Train station to the Univerity South area. I used my bus/subway card to get in with no problems.

I tried to put some money into my card in the subway but they said NO. My wife has a subway card and she was able to put money in her card. We were told that the machine to put money in the bus/subway cards has not been installed yet.

We walked around the university area and there is NOT a single sign anywhere that points to the subway entrance. Time to write to 12345 hotline.

Where does one get the visa? At the Consulate or are they arrival visas issues at the border?

A toll gate is still under construction that is just 100 meters from the main road into town. I took a picture of the last house standing in the path of the toll road and the owners are still hanging on although half their home has already been demolished. There are new hotels everywhere so there is no need to make reservations. Prices vary from 100 Yuan to as crazy as 780 per night on the shore near the port to Nan Zhao Island. Shuang Lang is already NOT what it used to be and the people are changing quickly. I saw at least 10 bike and scooter rental shops along the 3 km main road.

The new Visa office is located at 118 Tuo Dong Road. There is no number on the building yet so do not bother to look for it. There are 2 passport photo shops on either side of the building. The office is located directly in front of the Kunming Museum. The bus stop is named - Shi Bo Wu Guan - Bus 1, 62, 109, 117, 145, 213, A1 and K3 stop directly in front of the office. Foreigners need to go to the 3rd floor. The Tuo Dong Stadium is located to the right of the office while Baita Road is located to the left of the office.
