global warming

Inaccurate.

The theory is simply not understood by many including someone on a site called gokunming with the misnomer of Magnifico. It is understood better by the experts who study it who come to an almost unified conclusion with others who still debate the cause. Science at work, and right now I encourage the sceptics more than the anthropological warming convinced!

General warming does not mean a uniform warmth will encompass all parts of the earth simultaneously. If you believe this is what is supposed to occur, I encourage you read up on complex systems and apply that to climatological time frames and systems.

Blaming it on god is perfectly acceptable though if your belief system encompasses this, I would encourage you to pray to Him/Her/It to please change it if you wish your children to be able to experience the world He/Her/It created!

In 1974, in an article in Time Magazine entitled "Another Ice Age?," the same alarmists suggested that the (then-)coming ice age was being caused in part by the same vehicular emissions that they're now blaming for global warming.

"Man, too, may be somewhat responsible for the cooling trend. The University of Wisconsin's Reid A. Bryson and other climatologists suggest that dust and other particles released into the atmosphere as a result of farming and fuel burning may be blocking more and more sunlight from reaching and heating the surface of the earth."

we need to cut down on pollution.

but IMO, global warming falls into the same category as: we're heading for another ice age / y2k / 2012 doomsday — pseudo-science mixed in superstition mixed in with fear-mongering.

Gore got his token Nobel prize as did Obama. Many scientists want their names removed from Gloabal warming publications and they are refused. Also, scientists are refused to have a global warming condference. Science clearly shows that the entire globe is getting cooler, not warmer. For this reason they came up with a new word - Climate change. Most of the strange weather incidents are caused by HAARP when they intentionally change the weather patters and jet streams.

A new list of clouds has been created for the new clouds created by HAARP. Look at any scince book from 20 years ago and you will be able to compare the recent additions. They even went as far as to make a series of Stamps for the many clouds we now have.

One thing their bogus scientists have been unable to answer is why there were no Contrails (Chemtrails) that lasted for hours back in the 60s, 70s, 80, and 90s. Only since 1999 did they begin. Another question they can not answer is why these long lasting contrails only occur in the USA, Canada, EU, and Australia.

You are quoting an article from a magazine that was printed 40 years ago. A lot has changed since then and as new information has come in, new ideas and insights have been made. People from the 70's were making conclusions based on the information at the time and as new studies were conducted, those findings were updated or changed.

That's the great thing about science. You can be wrong and then learn something new and move on.

Saying that the science is bad now, because 40 years ago some sciences were off the mark would be like saying that astronomy is inaccurate because a 1000 years ago we thought the Earth was centre of the Universe. It is disingenuous at best.

I can remember far before Al Gore made his infamous global warming movie, some scientists were expressing concern that we might be entering a pattern of changing weather patterns. For a long time few were in agreement as what the long term outlook would be, but the scientists that predicted global warming always said that not all parts of the world would see record heat, but that the warming of the oceans would change weather patterns and some could also see record cold periods. They also predicted larger storms, possibly major melting of the ice caps which could lead to coastal flooding. Now most of the scientific community agrees major changes are happening and will continue to happen.

A furtehr question: why do some people apparently WANT to believe that there is no global warning, and others seem to WANT to believe that there is? Why do some people WANT to believe that it has little or nothing to do with human activity, and others the contrary? It seems to me that this is the situation.

Or is everybody simply level-headedly, with no agenda, trying to find the truth?

"Believe" is a good choice of words because it's practically impossible for the average person to know for sure the validity of the global warming theory.

So in my opinion, if you're concerned about the environment it's more relevant just to focus on the things you can do in your daily life to reduce pollution - drive less, live closer to work, buy local produce and less imported produce, etc... than to obsess about an abstract theory.

@ HFCAMPO.. I clearly remember dozens and dozens of condensation trails in the skies of Atlantic Canada way back in the early 70's covering the whole sky, its nothing new. If they last it's because the vapor has changed to ice crystals. If vapor doesnt change to ice crystals it evaporates much quicker.

But I do agree it does have an adverse effect on climate, similar to seeding clouds, but so does the relentless pollution that's pumped up into the stratosphere from other sources.

HFCAMPO quote.."Why there were no Contrails (Chemtrails) that lasted for hours back in the 60s, 70s, 80, and 90s."
